See through the eyes of the textile conservators as they wash the 17th century Mortlake tapestry ‘February’ in a wash bath built specifically for our largest tapestries at Hampton Court Palace. The tapestries are cleaned using de-ionised (soft) water and a special detergent mixture. This Tapestry is part of the Royal Collection Trust's collection. Hay-making at Kensington Palace

The tradition of hay-making is being kept alive at Kensington Palace thanks to Tom and Murdoch, two Shire Horses from Hampton Court Palace. For the first time in over a century the meadow has been cut using horse drawn equipment. This gives the grass a rougher cut, creating a traditional appearance for the grassland. The lighter tread of the horse’s hooves is also easier on the soil.

Ceremony of the Constable's Dues - Monday 27 April 2015

On Monday 27 April 2015, the Ceremony of the Constable's Dues took place at the Tower of London. HMS Defender's commander and crew marched to Tower Green where they presented a barrel of fine wine to the Constable of the Tower of London. The ceremony dates back to the 14th century, when ships had to pay their 'Dues' at the Tower in order to proceed.

Banqueting House is injecting some colour into Whitehall. It’s been all wrapped up in a striking design that you can spot from Trafalgar Square, inspired by the Rubens ceiling. Beneath the wrap, the building façade and roof are being repaired and conserved through 2015, but it remains open to visitors throughout. This is the first phase in our five-year plan to restore the Banqueting House to its former glory and transform how visitors experience its incredible history.

On Saturday 22 August 2015, a theatrical yet intimate drinks reception and dinner event was hosted at Banqueting House in London for 40 guests, alongside London and Partners and Leading Hotels of the World. The Main Hall was split in to two spaces using a red theatre curtain. Guests entered the Main Hall for a drinks reception before one long banqueting table was revealed. This video shows the Main Hall being set up for the event. Suppliers include Fisher Productions, Food by Dish, Hayford and Rhodes and Young Guns.
