How to use Scoop.it in a white-hat link building strategy.

07:31
Scoop.it is a great site to use in your link building campaign if you are using outreach as one of your primary link earning tactics. The platform has content curators that are actively looking to share links on their content platforms. Their content platform might be a Scoop.it audience or they might have their own or access to another platform. The platform is simple to use. Simply sign-up for a free account and start sharing your content with relevant contributors. There is a paid and free version. The key is to keep it relevant and to pitch valuable content. If your content doesn't provide any value to the curator, it won't get shared. Watch the video to see how we used Scoop.it to earn a curated link fro one of Scoop's curators. How to install Google AMP on Wordpress with Yoast & Glue

04:31
Mobile-friendly content is gaining more prominence in Google's search results. If your website is optimised for mobile devices, your site will have a better chance to rank on the first page of Google. If you operate a website that runs on Wordpress, one of the ways you can achieve this is by configuring your site for accelerated mobile pages by installing Wordpress plugins such as Glue for Toast. You can see a full step-by-step guide in the video.
How to find link prospects using Moz's Open Site Explorer

11:56
This is a classic tactic, but it is worth going over again. Finding competitors backlinks and then pitching for the same links is a great way to scale up your link building efforts. To find these links, you need to find the right prospects. To do this, you can use the Open Site Explorer tool from Moz. I would recommend that you create a Moz account so you can do multiple searches. If you can afford the pro account, then you will receive the full data on your competitors backlink history. You should be able to compile a list of hundreds or even thousands of backlink prospects. The chances that they will link to you is higher because they have already linked out to your competitor. Watch the video and put this into practice. If you have had any success with this tactic, let us know in the comment section below. Should you build links on LinkedIn?

05:41
In this video, I discuss the effects of using LinkedIn as a part of your white-hat SEO campaign. In the past, I've used LinkedIn to promote web content to my target audience. (The audience usually comprises of SEO and web marketing specialists.) One of the things that I had always noticed when I was promoting my content on LinkedIn was the effect it was having on the content's rankings. For a previous employer, I had written an article that ended up getting over 50 social media signals from LinkedIn and no links from blogs or other websites. The content started to rank for the keywords "Advertorial link building" and "Advertorial links" on the first page of Google. One of the rankings was next to the man Matt Cutts himself! In this video, we investigate the use of the rel=nofollow attribute on LinkedIn and the use of redirects. We try to isolate where the link benefits are coming from so that you can share links to your web content knowing that your site will gain an SEO benefit in the long-term. I have already published a post on this topic which can be seen here. http://businessgrowthdigitalmarketing.com/links-linkedin-help-websites-seo-rankings/ Enjoy the video.
How to rank on the first page of Pinterest (Pinterest SEO)

06:32
Would you like to get more referral traffic from Pinterest? You can achieve this by getting your Pins ranking higher organically on Pinterest. You might call it "Pinterest SEO", but by optimizing your Pins for your target keyword, your pin can appear at the top of Pinterest's search engine results and gain you more referral web traffic. Watch the video to learn more.
How to use blogger outreach in your link building campaign.

06:31
One of the most effective link building strategies is blogger outreach. However, bloggers are being inundated with link requests from thousands of people on the web. In this video, I want to show you an example where I was able to successfully acquire a link for one of my websites by using blogger outreach. One of the things that I emphasised on when doing blogger outreach was targeting blogs or websites whose content was highly relevant to my own. You could think of it as me targeting a micro-niche in order to have the best chance to convert on the website. The approach that is used with bloggers can be applied when doing website outreach as well. If you implement this tactic with a content-driven strategy, it makes it difficult for competitors in your industry to compete with you. Watch the video to learn more.
How many links do you need to rank on the first page of Google?

06:11
Asking the question "How many links do you need to rank on the first page of Google?" is a bit like asking a person how long is a piece of string? We would love to give a definitive answer, however it is usually a question that is impossible to answer. In this video, I want to give you some insights to a campaign that I was involved with a few years ago. The campaign saw my team and I engage in a link building campaign that allowed us to rank the website on the first page of Google in less than one year for a series of keywords. There were some keywords that weren't too competitive and then there were others that were much more competitive. The total amount of links that we produced for the client was 140. The site started to rank on the first page in 7 months. Afterwards, we were able to rank some niche keywords for the same client within 1-2 months. The amount of links that's required to rank web content differs. The strategy that we adopted at the time consisted of guest blog posts and adding links to already authoritative web pages. At the time, no onsite optimisation or content optimisation was implemented. In hindsight, if we had also implemented a content strategy, the site would have attracted natural links that would have amplified their reach in the organic search space. Watch the video to learn more about this campaign.
Earn author links by becoming a contributor on websites.

07:07
One of the most beneficial ways to earn authoritative links to your website is by becoming a regular contributor on relevant and authoritative websites. In this example, we show a live example from online marketing guru Ahmad Raza, the creative head behind http://samurais.co. Raza is a regular contributor to sites like Business.com, The Huffington Post and Entrepreneur. The content that he publishes on the site varies from entrepreneurship and business practices to politics. One of the biggest benefits that he receives from publishing on these sites is the audience exposure. Watch the video to see how Raza puts this into action.
Should you use content syndication in your white hat SEO link building strategy?

04:27
There is a fine line between black and white hat seo when you do content syndication. Google allows you to republish content on other sites, but it shouldn't be done as web spam. The problem with content syndication is that people have created an article and then they republish the content (usually with the help of article placement tools or article spinning tools) and to get the content placed with links back to their site. These often end up on poor quality websites and there's a distinct link pattern with the poor syndication that has been done. Doing it the right way will see you get your content indexed by search engines after it has been published and then the content will be synced or republished on other websites where there is a relevant audience. Directory submission link building strategy.

03:24
Directory link building, directory submission, free directory link, In this video, I will show you how I was able to implement a directory submission that allowed me to get a link from a government run directory. Directory link building has been around for a long time, however many directory websites were built for the sole purpose of manipulating Google's Terms of Service. Google has targeted several websites with their Penguin algorithm in a bid to curb link spam on directories. However, links from authoritative directories are seen as favourable. In my campaigns, I will only link from directories that provide value for their audience. Directories that are run by governments and chambers of commerce are a good source for getting these types of links. Watch the video to find out more.
Should you build nofollow links in a white hat SEO campaign?

04:24
It's important to build the right type of links in your white hat SEO campaign so that your site can rank higher in the organic search results. It's important that the links that are acquired in the SEO campaign have the nofollow attribute. However, it is common for many links to have the nofollow attribute. For many people in the SEO world, nofollow links are quickly dismissed as having no value. But the thing is, getting the link can create value in other areas. In this video, I discuss how getting a nofollow blog comment link generates one of my sites a regular stream of traffic every month. By applying a similar strategy across other websites, you can easily build the referral traffic of your website. This additional traffic could provide qualified leads or even sales. Alternatively, the nofollow links provide exposure that can generate organic links from the web community. Watch the video to see my point of view when it comes to building nofollow links.
Use "link reclamation" to earn natural links.

06:45
One of the quickest and most effective ways to earn natural links to your site is by implementing a link reclamation strategy. Link reclamation involves finding unlinked mentions or references to your website's content. This could be in this could be in the form of the products or services that you sell. It could also be in reference to any PR activity that has been done for your business. You can use alert services such as Google Alerts to notify you of any mentions of your business, website, products or services across the web. Once you find these mentions, you can reach out to those webmasters and ask if they can link to the appropriate source on your website. Watch the video to learn more.
External links - Is it ok to link out to other websites?

03:48
Harnessing link juice to maximise a website's rankings has caused many webmasters to choose not to link out to external websites. The thing is, your site is still likely to rank well even f you do link out to other websites. It is true that the link benefit goes to the site that is being linked to, however, Google's John Mueller has said that Google does consider the relevancy weighting of external links. Watch the video to learn and participate in the discussion.
Understanding the Penguin Algorithm | BGDM TV

04:48
Penguin 4.0 has been released and webmasters around the world are trying to get their head around the impact that it will have on their website in the future. We know that the algorithm update affects links, but to what degree is yet to unfold. What we do know is that webmasters should be focusing on their link earning efforts through content creation and improving their own user experience across their web platforms. In the last major Penguin algorithm update, low quality guest blogs and PBNs were among those that were targeted. We had expected to see something similar, however there's been very little impact in the organic search results so far. Watch the video to see our reaction to the Penguin 4.0 algorithm update. If you have some insight to share, please leave a comment in the section below. Thanks for watching!
Why is it important to keep your link building pipeline full? | BGDM TV

02:46
Majority of the people that do SEO understand the importance of acquiring links in their campaign, but they don't fully understand how the link building pipeline works. Typically, most SEOs will have a target to get as many links as possible within a certain timeframe. (This could be on a weekly or monthly basis). Off the back of that, the site should start to rank well. But in order to get those links, an SEO specialist must create a system or opportunity that will allow them to have enough link prospects for them to reach their target. I discuss the importance of having a pipeline of link prospects in your SEO campaign.
How to get a dofollow link on a University website.

04:36
Getting links from educational websites like universities are among the most coveted links in the SEO space. In this video, we show you how we were able to acquire a do follow link from one of the United Kingdom's top universities. The link was acquired using an outreach method to the webmaster of the university's web page. I wanted to show that you can use white hat link building to effectively acquire highly authoritative links from educational websites such as universities. In order to create a strong pitch to acquire this type of link, we created content that would be valuable to their students. (You could say that this was a part of a content marketing strategy) By creating content that was specific to a particular audience, it was easier to pitch for the acquisition of the link. The content shared living experiences in Korea for students that want to consider teaching English in South Korea. Like you would find if you were implementing Brian Dean's Skyscraper technique, publishing valuable content will allow you to scale your link building efforts. In this case, we were able to pitch to several universities. Watch the video to see exactly how we implemented this tactic.
Start building links to your site by answering questions on Q&A sites.

03:36
One of the benefits of a content-driven link building strategy is that you can find natural linking opportunities where the content that you publish will contribute to online discussions. In this video, I show an example where I was able to acquire a natural link by contributing an answer on a Q&A site and I was able to link to content that I had published. The link is a dofollow link and the answer has been voted up as the top answer. Placing links on sites like these can also generate your site more web traffic. Check out the video now. Get your link approved in Reddit discussions | Link building tactic

05:42
Reddit is one of the most popular social media platforms on the web and can send your site loads of web traffic as well as authority signals to help the linking content rank in Google. If you want to get your content discovered and shared by a powerful online audience, then the Reddit community is like an army of advocates who will push your content to succeed online. The thing is, it is challenging to get links (especially dofollow links) approved on Reddit. However, I will show you how I earned a link from Reddit that is now archived and that is a nofollow. Boost your white hat SEO link building efforts with YouTube.

05:52
YouTube has created many opportunities for video creators and it can provide many opportunities for people engaging in a white hat SEO strategy. Many SEOs tend to dismiss the power of YouTube because of the nofollow attribute on any links that are published on the platform. However, the platform boasts over 1 billion searches a day and can expose your site or business to an audience of hundreds, thousands or millions. In this video, I will show you a live example of a natural link that was published naturally by publishing videos on YouTube.
Find link building opportunities by searching for "Bloglovin" comments

07:40
Link building via blog comments has waned over the years due to the amount of abuse the tactic has received in the form of web spam. The updates with Google's Penguin algorithm has also targeted low quality blog comments that's been used for link spam. Commenting on blogs should be done as a part of a discussion or conversation. It shouldn't be used for the sole purpose of generating a self-serving link. That being said, you can still look for opportunities to earn a backlink by looking for blogs that use the Bloglovin plugin. Simply use Google or another search engine to look for blogs that use the Bloglovin plugin (For example, you can search using : skin beauty "Bloglovin" to find a list of opportunities). You will then need to check the source code to find those sites that use the Nofollow attribute. Even if the link is no followed, the link that is left on the site could earn your site some organic traffic over time. Watch the video to find out more.
How to get more retweets on Twitter using a targeted follower strategy.

05:28
Twitter is one of the largest social media platforms on the web and people that have built a large following can easily use their audience to influence their web marketing efforts, as well as generate an income. But the only way to get a large audience is by implementing audience building tactics. This means you need to attract followers with the content that you share and get people within your network to keep on resharing your content. To achieve this, you need to get followers that are targeted, interested and engaged with your web content. In this video, we share one of the ways we build our Twitter audience so that we can get targeted followers who will retweet our content in the future,
Find link building opportunities by searching for "useful link" sections on websites.

04:09
One of the best ways to earn links from web pages that already have authority is by getting featured on useful link pages. Typically, these pages have been published on a website for years and will usually have links to other relevant sites that are in your industry niche. These pages are usually quite easy to find, however getting featured on these pages is a different story. The content that you pitch to get featured on these pages must provide value for their audience. Asking for a link to your commercial page will have a lower chance of getting accepted than say a published resource guide that appears on your website's blog. There are several content forms that you can pitch. However, you need to make sure that the content is relevant to the existing content on the page. Watch the video to learn how you can use this tactic to acquire links in your SEO campaign.
How not to do link building - Blog comment spam

06:39
Blog comment spam is notorious in the SEO world. You can submit links in the blog comments and contribute to a discussion that adds value to the blog's audience. But there are SEOs that use tools such as Xrumer, SEnuke and Scrapebox to blast out thousands of links in the hope that they will get some dofollow links from some websites. The links that they do acquire pass PageRank and aid with their site's rankings. However, it can be more effective to contribute relevant content to sites that would find the content valuable. I share the blog recipient's point of view and frustrations and encourage others to implement a more content led approach in their link building campaigns.
How to find Pinterest contributor boards

04:59
In this tutorial, we show you how to increase your content's reach by getting accepted on group boards on Pinterest. You can build up your own network on Pinterest and promote to that specific audience. However, by using group boards you can improve your reach by tapping into the audience of the group board. So, if you have 100 followers on your board and you get accepted onto a board that has 100 followers, you will be able to improve the reach of your content to 200 people. There are people that have used this strategy to earn hundreds and even thousands of visitors to their web content. Watch the video for the full tutorial.
Implement link building successfully by reaching out to content curators on Twitter

03:44
This can be a scalable link building method for your website. If your target audience hangs out on Twitter, you can reach out to them by sending a direct message or a direct tweet where you will be pitching your content. I like to look for other content curators, authors or web publishers that are looking for informative sources that they can link to in their future (or previous) publications. Some of these publications might be in the form of: Newsletters Link or content roundups Bulletins Best of lists Guides Learning how to prospect for relevant curators who will be genuinely interested in your content is a great way to earn valuable links that will set your site apart from the competition. Improve your link building opportunities by doing cold calling | BGDM TV

02:50
Hi guys. In this episode, I talk about making outbound phone calls to create and secure links on external websites. A lot of our link building activities involve cold emailing, which works. But it is becoming more difficult to even reach the right person who can potentially get you a link on their website. Watch the video to learn more about my experience with cold calling in SEO and if you have had any experience with using cold calling in your white hat SEO link building campaigns, please share your experience in the comment section below.
Publish useful content to earn natural links in your white hat SEO campaign

03:47
I've said in other videos that it is important to develop content that will demonstrate value to your online audience and will motivate them to share the content with their audience. In this video, I share a live example of a link that was earned as a part of a white hat SEO strategy because of developing relevant content for a specific audience.
Why is it important to learn from your link building rejections?

05:59
The majority of SEO specialists will talk about success rates when implementing a link building campaign, however few will actually talk about what to do when you don't reap the fruits of your labour. In this video, I talk about what you can learn from receiving rejections for your link requests. It isn't the end of the world, but it should allow you to learn more about what webmasters want so you can hone your future pitches and have a better chance of success in the long-run. Watch the video to learn more.
Earn natural links by reaching out to suppliers & partners. (Testimonials & reviews)

08:35
One of the quickest ways you can earn natural links to your website from authoritative sources is by leveraging the existing partnerships and relationships that you have. This means reaching out to suppliers and businesses that you have a relationship with. The links that are on these pages tend to have a high page authority, which can be passed onto your website. When you are looking for partners or suppliers, also check their website to see if they list any organisations that they partner with, if they list their clients or if they publish testimonials or referrals. The other advantage is that these types of links give your website a competitive advantage against competitors in your industry, since it is unlikely that they will be able to acquire the same links from the same partners. Should you use Pinterest in your link building campaign?

04:02
Pinterest is one of the largest social networks on the planet. Many people in the world of SEO believe that it should be used in a link building campaign because of the direct link benefit that can be gained. The reality is that most of the links on Pinterest have the rel=nofollow attribute, which means that no PageRank will be passed onto the linking site. Even though there is the nofollow attribute, Pinterest should be used to generate exposure, attract traffic and influence links with the audience. Watch the video to learn more.

In this video, I share an example of one of the links that I recently acquired as a part of my link outreach campaign. These campaigns aren't difficult to do, but they are very time intensive. The link that I acquired was from the 132nd contact on one of my lists. And the latency between making the initial contact and gaining the link was around 2 weeks. The initial contact was made by reaching out to the publisher in the blog comments and linking to relevant content on my own site. The publisher then referenced the link in his content roundup. The decay & fall of guest blogging | BGDM TV

06:48
Matt Cutts called it a few years ago. He published a post on his blog about the decay and fall of guest blogging. Now, more than 2 years on, we have seen improvements in some areas such as quality, but paid link schemes still run rampant in the SEO industry. It's been going on for a long time and it is unlikely to change. What has been disappointing is how guest blogging is becoming nothing more than an advertorial service. We talk about the affects of paid guest blogging and genuine guest blogging in this video and I would love to get your thoughts on the mater. You can find a link to his original post from Matt Cutts here. https://www.mattcutts.com/blog/guest-blogging/

Demonstrate value to create powerful white hat SEO links. (MUST KNOW!)

04:53
Content is king when it is published for the right audience. But the content will only reign supreme if it provides value to the audience. And in exchange for publishing valuable content, you will be able to receive links that will help your site rank on the first page of Google. In this video, I will show you an actual case study with the website http://bemyhairmodel.com. Those people that wanted to save money on their haircut and hairdressers that wanted to save time and energy finding models that they could practice on. As the site started to grow in popularity in the hairdressing community, the site was would get more organic link opportunities. In this video, I will show you how this site focused on delivering value and as a result, gained a prominent link from one of the most authoritative websites in the hairdressing niche and gained a first page ranking for their target keyword "hair models".

Importance of Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) | BGDM TV

05:04
I'm going to be transparent on my experience with conversion rate optimisation. I have been involved with internet marketing for a number of years, but it wasn't until I started spending a lot of my own personal money on marketing campaigns that I started to pay real attention to conversion rate optimization (CRO). I remember one of the major turning points was when I had spent $10 per click on a campaign that was getting a 95% bounce rate. The fact that I had spent $100 and only $5 accounted for a site visit was appalling. To add salt to the wound, I received an enquiry that was from an irrelevant lead. I decided that things needed to change and I started prioritising conversions and reducing bounce rates from my campaigns and from my site. At the moment, I tend to have a bounce rate of approximately 20% on my Business Growth Digital Marketing site. I am working to improve this on other websites that I have. My email sign-up rate flirts between 1-6%, but I would like to increasee this even more. What shocks me is when I speak with clients, they don't want to prioritise conversion rate optimisation. They ask for great results without optimising their site for conversions. So this is why I have made this video to shed light on its importance. I hope that you enjoy the video. If you have any questions or if you would like to share any insights or stories, please leave them in the comment section below.
BGDM TV Importance of creating a valuable website before doing link building

07:22
You can decide to do link building the easy way or the hard way. The easiest way to attract links to your website is by publishing content that is relevant and valuable to a specific audience. The problem is, too many people skip this step and expect to their website to get links either naturally or through promotional efforts. It's no secret that links which point to specific web pages will help the content of the website rank. However, you can increase the conversion rate of your link building acquisition by publishing irresistible content. To achieve this, you should adopt a similar mindset to a content marketer. Prioritise engagement and value in order to inspire people to share the content on their blog, social media networks or other online platforms. Think about the information that you can give before you ask to receive something in return. Could this be an ebook, tools, tips, a guide or video series? Think about the value that you can provide. When you have done this, you should start to see improvements in your link acquisition.
Is it more important to build an audience, build traffic or to build links?

04:34
When it comes to building and managing a website, what do you believe is important? Do you think you should focus on building an audience? Build web traffic or build web links? Most web marketers want to get as much traffic as possible or to get as many links as possible to generate the web traffic. But it is actually better to build a loyal and targeted audience that will allow you to achieve all three goals. Watch the video to find out more.
Proof of why white hat SEO link building is easier if you focus on delivering value.

03:40
Building links in a white hat SEO campaign is often described as 'hard' or 'difficult', to say the least. It is difficult if your site's content doesn't offer value to a target audience that is compelled to share your site's content. Many people would rather opt for an easier option, such as using software or engaging in link schemes to get those links that will rank the site on the first page of Google. However, there are several websites that focus on delivering value that do earn links naturally and end up getting the SEO results that they are after. It's not as quick as pushing a button on a piece of software to syndicate links, but with the right strategy, the site can get visibility in its niche fairly quickly. Watch this video to see how this was achieved with the website http://bemyhairmodel.com.
Use classified ads as a part of your site's link building strategy.

03:21
One of the quickest ways you can build links to your website is by getting your site published on website classifieds. It's a link building tactic that you will need to be cautious with, since many classified websites either provide a rel=nofollow attribute, which doesn't pass on any SEO benefit to your linking page. There are also many sites that have been setup solely for SEO purposes. By getting link placements on the wrong type of websites, it is likely that your site's SEO performance will suffer. To give your site the best chance of success with this link building tactic, aim to get published on classified sites that are credible and industry specific. Watch the video to see a live example.

How to analyze and improve your web page's loading time (Page speed)

08:52

People that do SEO can often get caught up with the offsite optimisation tasks that they tend to forget the impact that can occur if they get the onsite elements right. I am a big fan of doing offsite optimisation with different link building strategies. However, one of the pieces that I published on my website has been performing beyond my expectation due to the way the content is marked-up. I do know that the content delivers value, however when I published the content at the time I didn't feel like it gave as much value as some of the other posts that I had published. Some of the things that I did do well with the post included: Marking up the web page's meta data such as the title and descriptions with relevant keywords. Marking up the images with alt-text and captions. Publishing thorough content from the campaign which was supported by facts. Tagging the content in my Wordpress CMS. At the time this was published, the content was ranking position 3 on the first page of Google for the keyword "Reddit Ads Case Study". Watch the video for more insights. The relationships that are built by attending or contributing to these events can lead to natural links being shared to your site.
