Vhorat Stitch | Hand Embroidery Stitches
Vhorat Stitch | Hand Embroidery Stitches https://youtu.be/7B1bKQ1mEEQ http://handembstitch.blogspot.com/p/embroidery-store.html Making quilts is a unique art form. Embroidery quilting is decorating fabric with different colors and various designs to create a wide variety of styles to fit into all occasions and decors. Quilting actually means combining fabric pieces with a soft interlining using wool or cotton thread. The quilt top is traditionally sewn into an attractive arrangement. The love of quilting has been around for a very long time and has now combined with the love of embroidery for the modern craft person. It is not uncommon to see decorative stitching used to make the quilt look more attractive. Embroidery can either be done by machine or by hand. Though one can create a quilt the old fashioned way by hand stitching, machine embroidery quilting designs offer the quilter a wonderful option that is very attractive and much quicker in this busy day and age. Let's have a look at some of the main reasons for combining fabric and embroidery designs instead of just fabric alone when making quilts: To enhance the beauty of the quilt- Embroidering and designing around coordinating fabrics can enhance the beauty of plain colored fabrics and textures, making the finished project more interesting. For every occasion - By using seasonal embroidery patterns and fabrics, the quilter can create projects that fit the occasion they are made for. The embroidery quilting designs add fun and festive appeal to the creation. To ensure variation- By using different embroidery quilting designs and fabrics, the quilter can use similar quilt block shapes as they have on another quilt and the new quilt takes on a completely different personality. What type of designs to look for? Decorative Machine Embroidery Quilting Designs - There are many different types of designs that work well when making quilts. Filled stitch, redwork, colorwork, and appliqu are a few types to try. Whether the quilter is making a baby quilt, patchwork quilt, elegant, vintage or special holiday quilt, the desired results will be achieved by carefully choosing the right designs and fabrics and combining them into an attractive arrangement. Feather Quilting Designs - The traditional method of hand quilting can be long and tedious. Or to get it professionally quilted with a long arm machine can be very expensive. An alternative is to use quilting designs made for the home embroidery machine. The double stitched designs have no jump stitches and come in a variety of patterns. With the continuous hoop available for some machines, a quilt can quickly and easily be quilted on the embroidery machine, though larger quilts are more difficult using this method because of the bulk. The quality and the appearance of the quilt is determined by the fabric's thread count, which [http://www.embroideryquilter.com]quilting patterns are used and the embroidery quilting designs chosen to decorate it. When the fabric thread count is high, the texture is better and more durable than a lower thread count. This is why it is important to choose good quality fabrics, rather than lower quality 'economy' fabrics when making quilts. The quilter will spend a substantial amount of time and money creating the quilt and the very best materials should be used. There are ample resources available on the internet where the quilter can shop for supplies, which is especially helpful for those who live in areas without a quality quilt fabric shop. One such virtual marketplace that the serious quilter will surely enjoy, is EmbroideryQuilter.com, which specializes in embroidery quilting designs, patterns, fabrics and supplies for all your embroidery and quilting needs. With a huge collection of Machine Embroidery Quilting Designs, Embroidery Quilter is now the perfect destination for all sorts of Embroidery Quilting designs. Embroidery Quilter has wonderful designs and amazing variety of Embroidery Quilt design that will make your embroidery experience the best ever. Goldwork Master Class (old)
During the Tudor and Stuart time periods, there was a transition from using couched gold threads to using them as a media that could be placed in the needle and used to form complicated stitches. While many texts list plaited braid as a gold thread stitch for period pieces, they often fail to point out the enormous variety of stitches.

Conserving Queen Victoria's childhood dolls
Mika Takami, Senior Textile Conservator at Historic Royal Palaces, explains some of the painstaking conservation work that has gone into each of Queen Victoria's own handmade dolls featured in the "Victoria Revealed" exhibition opening on March 26th. Each of the dolls (132 in total, 12 of which are on display in the exhibition) were named, decorated, dressed and played with by Queen Victoria herself. Any signs of wear and tear from regular handling therefore pose a unique conservation dilemma. Whilst wanting to conserve the dolls, every stitch or brush stroke could represent Victoria's own handiwork, so a very delicate and minimalist approach had to be observed whilst preserving the dolls for future generations to enjoy.

Just keep in mind, if you use regular fabric interfacing, there is still a chance glue can seep through because it's mesh. Most Beautiful Royal Palaces in the World to Visit
Most Beautiful Royal Palaces in the World to Visit 1. Rundale Palace – Latvia The Rundale Palace is set amidst the fertile Zemgale Plains in the south of Latvia. Most of the interior decorations were created between 1765 and 1768 when a sculptor from Berlin Johann Michael Graff, and Italian painters from St. Petersburg Francesco Martini and Carlo Zucchi worked at the palace. The representation rooms in the eastern wing of the palace – the Gilt Hall, the White Hall, and the Great Gallery – are open to the public. The central block accommodates the Duke's suite with reception parlours and private rooms, and the eastern block – a fully restored suite of Duchess's rooms. 2. Winter Palace – St. Petersburg, Russia St. Petersburg's most famous building, the Winter Palace not only physically dominates Palace Square and the south embankment of the Neva River, but also plays a central political, symbolic, and cultural role in the three-century history of the city. The first Imperial residence on the site of the Winter Palace was a wooden house in the Dutch style built in 1708 for Peter the Great and his family. This was replaced in 1711 by a stone building, the remains of which formed the foundations of the Hermitage Theatre. Parts of this original palace have now been restored and are open to the public. 3. Buckingham Palace – London Buckingham Palace is the London residence and administrative headquarters of the reigning monarch of the United Kingdom.Located in the City of Westminster, the palace is often at the centre of state occasions and royal hospitality. It has been a focal point for the British people at times of national rejoicing and mourning. Originally known as Buckingham House, the building at the core of today's palace was a large townhouse built for the Duke of Buckingham in 1703 on a site that had been in private ownership for at least 150 years. It was acquired by King George III in 1761 as a private residence for Queen Charlotte and became known as The Queen's House. 4. Château de Chambord – Loir-et-Cher, France It is best known as the location of the Château de Chambord, one of the most recognisable châteaux in the world because of its very distinct French Renaissance architecture. The château forms a parallelogram flanked at the angles by round towers and enclosing a square block of buildings, the façade of which forms the centre of the main front. The profusion of turrets, pinnacles, and dormer windows which decorates the roof of this, the chief portion of the château, constitutes the main feature of the exterior, while in the interior are a well-preserved chapel of the 16th century and a famous double staircase, the construction of which permits two people to ascend and descend respectively without seeing one another. 5. Nurul Iman - Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam The Istana Nurul Iman ( The Light of Faith Palace) is the official residence of the Sultan of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah, and the seat of the Brunei government. The palace is located on a leafy, riverside sprawl of hills on the banks of the Brunei River, a few kilometers south of Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei's capital city. The palace is often at the centre of state occasions and royal hospitality. 6. Forbidden City – Beijing, China The Forbidden City, situated in the very heart of Beijing, was home to 24 emperors of the Ming (1368–1644) and Qing (1644–1911) Dynasties. The construction of the grand palace started in the fourth year of Emperor Yongle of the Ming Dynasty (1406), and ended in 1420. In ancient times, the emperor was said to be a son of Heaven, and therefore Heaven’s supreme power was bestowed upon him. The emperors’ residence on earth was built as a replica of the Purple Palace where God was thought to live in Heaven. 7. Mysore Palace – India The Palace of Mysore is a historical palace in the city of Mysore in Karnataka, southern India. It is the official residence and seat of the Wodeyars — the rulers of Mysore, the royal family of Mysore, who ruled the princely state from 1399 to 1950. The palace houses two durbar halls (ceremonial meeting halls of the royal court) and incorporates an array of courtyards, gardens, and buildings. The palace is in the central region of inner Mysore, facing the Chamundi Hills eastward. Facebook ► https://www.facebook.com/Mega-News-13... A Step Saving Kitchen 1949 United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Color
more at http://kitchen.quickfound.net The USDA describes and demonstrates the results of their efforts to develop a modern "step-saving" kitchen. NEW VERSION with improved video & sound: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RF3JAY8Gyz4 Public domain film from the US National Archives, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and mild video noise reduction applied. The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, noise reduction, clipping reduction, and/or equalization (the resulting sound, though not perfect, is far less noisy than the original). http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kitchen A kitchen is a room or part of a room used for cooking and food preparation. In the West, a modern residential kitchen is typically equipped with a stove, a sink with hot and cold running water, a refrigerator and kitchen cabinets arranged according to a modular design. Many households have a microwave oven, a dishwasher and other electric appliances. The main function of a kitchen is cooking or preparing food but it may also be used for dining, food storage, entertaining, dishwashing and laundry... History The evolution of the kitchen is linked to the invention of the cooking range or stove and the development of water infrastructure capable of supplying water to private homes. Until the 18th century, food was cooked over an open fire. Technical advances in heating food in the 18th and 19th centuries, changed the architecture of the kitchen. Before the advent of modern pipes, water was brought from an outdoor source such as wells, pumps or springs. Antiquity The houses in Ancient Greece were commonly of the atrium-type: the rooms were arranged around a central courtyard for women. In many such homes, a covered but otherwise open patio served as the kitchen. Homes of the wealthy had the kitchen as a separate room... In the Roman Empire, common folk in cities often had no kitchen of their own; they did their cooking in large public kitchens. Some had small mobile bronze stoves, on which a fire could be lit for cooking. Wealthy Romans had relatively well-equipped kitchens... Middle Ages Early medieval European longhouses had an open fire under the highest point of the building. The "kitchen area" was between the entrance and the fireplace. In wealthy homes there was typically more than one kitchen... In the larger homesteads of European nobles, the kitchen was sometimes in a separate sunken floor building to keep the main building, which served social and official purposes, free from indoor smoke. The first known stoves in Japan date from about the same time. The earliest findings are from the Kofun period (3rd to 6th century). These stoves, called kamado, were typically made of clay and mortar; they were fired with wood or charcoal through a hole in the front and had a hole in the top, into which a pot could be hanged by its rim. This type of stove remained in use for centuries to come... Colonial America... Technological advances during industrialization brought major changes to the kitchen. Iron stoves, which enclosed the fire completely and were more efficient, appeared. Early models included the Franklin stove around 1740, which was a furnace stove intended for heating, not for cooking. Benjamin Thompson in England designed his "Rumford stove" around 1800. This stove was much more energy efficient than earlier stoves; it used one fire to heat several pots, which were hung into holes on top of the stove and were thus heated from all sides instead of just from the bottom. However, his stove was designed for large kitchens; it was too big for domestic use. The "Oberlin stove" was a refinement of the technique that resulted in a size reduction; it was patented in the U.S. in 1834 and became a commercial success with some 90,000 units sold over the next 30 years. These stoves were still fired with wood or coal. Although the first gas street lamps were installed in Paris, London, and Berlin at the beginning of the 1820s and the first U.S. patent on a gas stove was granted in 1825, it was not until the late 19th century that using gas for lighting and cooking became commonplace in urban areas... The Hoosier Manufacturing Co. of Indiana adapted an existing furniture piece, the baker's cabinet, which had a similar structure of a table top with some cabinets above it (and frequently flour bins beneath) to solve the storage problem. By rearranging the parts and taking advantage of (then) modern metal working, they were able to produce a well-organized, compact cabinet which answered the home cook's needs for storage and working space. A distinctive feature of the Hoosier cabinet is its accessories. As originally supplied, they were equipped with various racks and other hardware to hold and organize spices and various staples...
