Wiesław Żyźniewski (later Wesley Zineski) and his mother Janina were Catholics from Lodz, Poland. Arrested for their resistance activities, they were taken to prison before being sent to Auschwitz. Janina died there, but Wiesław survived. In this episode of Curators Corner, Kyra Schuster shares letters that Janina wrote to her mother while she was a prisoner and other items related to the family's experiences during World War II. What Color Is This adidas Jacket?

01:24
If you're dying for another internet born mystery, February 26 may be your lucky day. Exactly one year to the day from the infamous debate about the true color of a blue and black dress (or was it white and gold?), a photo of an adidas track jacket has surfaced online and—you guessed it—people can't agree on what color the damn thing is. The photo was posted on Tumblr by the user poppunkblogger, who's asking for everyone's advice: "I hate to make a new blue/black white/gold dress meme but my friend has this jacket and she says it’s white and blue but i see black and brown pls tell me what you see." Personally, we think it's blue/gray or blue/white, although some people in the Complex office have suggested green/brown and black/brown (they're lost, though). Others seem to be leaning toward blue/gray or blue/white. Is This The Most Disrespectful Touchdown Celebration Ever?

03:34
The 2016-17 NFL season is still a few months away, but if you need a football fix, the CFL has got you covered! The league is currently in the second week of its 2016 season, and if this video is any indication of what you can expect from a CFL game, it might actually be worth your time. On the Canadian gridiron on Thursday night, things got super entertaining during a game between the Montreal Alouettes and the Ottawa Redblacks when Alouettes wide receiver Duron Carter—son of former NFL star and Hall of Famer Cris Carter—caught a touchdown pass after surviving a hit that drew a flag. Following the play, Carter got up off the turf, ran over to the Ottawa bench, knocked their head coach Rick Campbell to the ground, danced all over their sideline, started a brawl, and ended up getting himself ejected. It was...something. Carter reportedly apologized to Campbell after the game. But does an apology really cover everything he managed to do in a 25-second span? In the past, Carter was considered an NFL prospect, but he's been plagued by the dreaded "character issues" that NFL teams try to stay away from (at least when it comes to guys who aren't guaranteed stars). He originally went to Ohio State in 2009 but left the school after failing to stay academically eligible. Then, he spent a year in community college, transferred to Alabama, and once again failed to stay eligible before being suspended from the team. He tried to go to Florida Atlantic, but his petition to play right away was denied so he never attended the school. And his entire collegiate career included just 13 catches. After seeing what he did on Thursday, we doubt Carter is going to get much attention from the NFL moving forward. But if nothing else, he did just earn himself a spot on this prestigious list. Tom Brady Won't Say Who He Voted For in the 2016 Election

02:22
Early last week, Donald Trump suggested that Tom Brady had voted for him in the 2016 presidential election during a rally in New Hampshire. "Tom Brady, great guy, great friend of mine, great, great champion, unbelieveable winner," Trump said. "He called me today and he said, 'Donald, I support you, you're my friend, and I voted for you.'" Trump also read a letter that Brady's head coach Bill Belichick had written to him. Brady made his weekly appearance on the Kirk & Callahan radio show a short time after the rally, and while he didn't necessarily deny what Trump had said, he declined to comment on whether or not he had voted for him. He went as far to say that he hadn't voted yet, and he let the show's hosts know that he would have more to say about his political preferences during his next appearance. Tyga Responds to Reports About Texting 14-year-old Model

01:44
UPDATE 1/5: Tyga's reps reached out to TMZ with a response to these allegations and said that Tyga only contacted O'Malia to potentially sign her to his label. According to Tyga's manager, Anthony Martini, the rapper only asked her to FaceTime with him so that he could hear her sing while he was in the studio. Martini also reportedly sent pictures of text messages to TMZ where O'Malia mentioned to Tyga that she was 17. See below for the original story published on 1/4/16. It looks like Tyga has found himself in some potentially serious legal trouble, as reports are surfacing that he may have contacted a 14-year-old model named Molly O'Malia. OK! originally posted the story back in December, which alleged that Kylie Jenner busted Tyga texting O'Malia. After rumors surfaced, O'Malia hired famed civil rights lawyer Gloria Allred to represent her. During a press conference today in New York, O'Malia spoke to reporters for the first time and says Tyga did indeed initiate contact with her through Instagram. At first, she thought he was interested in her music (She's an aspiring singer) but she became alarmed when he continually asked to FaceTime with her. Allredadded that while Tyga texted her client often, the two were never romantically involved like OK! initially reported. She also said that while the original report suggested that O'Malia was "excited to be part of a sex scandal," that just isn't the truth. Allred aired out OK! and is blaming the publication for revealing O'Malia'sidentity; the magazine used a poorly pixalated photo of her on a cover. O'Malia also alleges that OK! never contacted her or her mom to use her photos and that they never would have allowed it if they did. Allred is now seeking a formal apology from the magazine to O'Malia due to her overall embarrassment from the falsified story. "People who are not well known—who are otherwise voiceless and powerless and feeling hopeless—have a right to have their side of the story. They have a right to do that. She is 14 years old," Allred said. It's currently unclear if this situation will lead to a lawsuit and Tyga has yet to respond. We'll continue to update this story as more details come out. Report: The iPhone 7 Will Have No Headphone Jack

02:03
The Apple rumor mill brings both exciting and headache-inducing possible news about the next iPhone. After the historical 13 million iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus sales in the first weekend of release the pressure is on Apple to beat that number with the iPhone 7. In order to do so Apple will have to offer customers a huge motivation to upgrade (possibly from an iPhone 4S) and from what the rumors are saying Apple might run into trouble considering it reportedly wants to do away with the headphone jack on the iPhone. Fast Company spoke to a source "with knowledge of the company's plans" reports Mashable. According to the source Apple wants to eliminate the headphone jack to make the iPhone thinner. Apple reportedly plans for users to use the lightning port (where you plug in your charger) for new Lightning-connected headphones that may or may not be included with the iPhone 7. Does Michael Jordan Really Hate Rap?

02:16
Does Michael Jordan really hate rap as N.O.R.E. suggested during a Rap Radar podcast in March? MJ—or at least, a publicist speaking on behalf of MJ—said no shortly after N.O.R.E. made his claim. N.O.R.E. responded by reiterating his original point about MJ hating rap, though, and by pointing out that MJ did, in fact, attend a Def Jam Christmas party once despite his publicist saying that he hadn't been there—the same party where, N.O.R.E. says, MJ said, “F*ck rap," after Redman and Method Man asked for a few seconds of his time. Chamillionaire would also probably have something to say about MJ's true feelings towards rappers. This is resulting in many people to feel disconcerted once they compare images they see online with their own unfiltered life. Open Score 2016: Panel 4: The Future of Internet Art, presented by New Museum and Rhizome

59:13
This video documentation is part four of a four part series from a symposium that took place on January 30, 2016 at the New Museum. The New Museum and Rhizome jointly inaugurate an annual symposium titled "Open Score" that will explore the state of art and technology today. Convening luminary artists, curators, researchers, and writers to discuss how technology is transforming culture, the first edition of "Open Score" will consider how artists are responding to new conditions of surveillance and hypervisibility; how social media’s mass creativity interfaces with branding and identity for individual artists; how the quality and texture of art criticism is evolving in a digital age; and what the future of internet art might be in light of a broader assimilation of digital technologies. Supported by the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, "Open Score: Art and Technology 2016" will mark the fiftieth anniversary of the groundbreaking initiative Experiments in Art and Technology. The conference’s title is taken from Rauschenberg’s live performance Open Score during one of E.A.T.’s most iconic events, “9 Evenings: Theatre and Engineering.” Panel 4: The Future of Internet Art Over the course of two decades, the nascent field of internet-based practice has exploded into the mainstream and become ubiquitous. The internet is no longer a new medium but a mass medium that permeates every aspect of culture and society internationally. In light of this, what is the future for the field of art engaged with the internet? Will it continue to offer artists the opportunity to connect with publics directly, without relying on art institutions? How will the history of internet art continue to inform its future, given the problems of creating digital social memory? How will the web’s increased competition from locked-down applications change digital cultural production and distribution? What has internet art’s embrace by the mainstream of contemporary art and popular culture done to its form and visibility? Will there be such a thing as internet art ten years from now, or will all art created before the internet, as the artist Oliver Laric has suggested, simply be “pre-internet art”? Speakers Constant Dullaart, artist and winner of the Rhizome Prix Net Art; Shawné Michaelain Holloway, artist; Peter Russo, Director, Triple Canopy; and Colin Self, artist Moderator Michael Connor, Artistic Director, Rhizome

Dot Da Genius Addresses Rumors of Reported Abuse Toward Jhene Aiko

02:15
Soon after her divorce from Dot Da Genius made news last week, Jhene Aiko went to social media to defend her decision as well as her character. The 28-year-old singer was accused of being unfaithful to the producer, as well as attempting to play the victim. She made an effort to shut down those rumors in a series of tweets. In several of the posts, Aiko alluded to her tumultuous past with Dot, whose real name is Oladipo Omishore. One of the now-deleted tweets read: “i only cheated myself. so glad to be free from all the drugs, depression and confrontation,” while another suggested she was disrespected in more than one way. NBA's Stephen Jackson Confronts Man for Racist Joke

01:37
Former NBA player Stephen Jackson has made plenty of headlines in recent months for saying some pretty outlandish things. For example, he suggested that the 2006-07 Warriors would beat the 2015-16 Warriors in February. He also made an appearance on ESPN following the Nick Young/D’Angelo Russell scandal in March and used the phrase “snitches get stitches” on live TV. And as recently as Monday, he took a shot at Kevin Durant’s defensive performance during Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals. But Jackson is making headlines for a much different reason right now thanks to a powerful story he told on Instagram on Wednesday. According to him, he was getting a workout in at the gym when he heard an older white man talking about the gorilla that was shot at the Cincinnati Zoo over Memorial Day Weekend. Jackson then heard the man make a very tasteless joke in which he referred to Serena Williams as a gorilla. And when he did, Jackson was quick to step up and confront the man about what he said. Morissey Tapped as Star of Supreme's 2016 Collection

Supreme has now issued its own lengthy statement on this matter via their official Facebook page. The statement explains that the photos were shot back in July of 2015, with Morrissey being fully aware of all the details of the shoot and campaign beforehand. Morrissey was unsatisfied with the final results, and refused to sign off on an approved image with no explanation. Instead, he suggested Supreme use a photo of his choice, which was eventually shared on Instagram by his nephew, and therefore no longer a viable option for the campaign. The Bacton Altar Cloth

03:34
A richly embroidered altar cloth, preserved for centuries in a small rural church in Bacton, Herefordshire, has recently been identified by experts as a piece of a sixteenth century dress, which may even have belonged to Queen Elizabeth I herself. Rumoured for centuries to be connected to the Tudor Queen via her servant, Blanche Parry, the story of this remarkable object is uncovered in a new book, from Historic Royal Palaces Joint Chief Curator Tracy Borman: ‘The Private Lives of the Tudors.’ Dating from the last decades of the sixteenth century, the altar cloth is a treasured possession of St Faith’s Church, Bacton, where until recently, it hung in a glass case on a wall, after having been retired as an altar cloth over a hundred years ago. Bacton was the birthplace of one of Elizabeth I’s most faithful servants, Blanche Parry, who began her 57 year service supervising the royal cradle rockers, and died as her Chief Gentlewoman of the Bedchamber. The altar cloth has long been associated with Parry, who erected a monument marking her loyal service to her mistress at St Faith’s. Although famous for her lavish wardrobe, it was not unusual for Elizabeth I to pass on her discarded clothes to her confidantes after they outlived their usefulness. The value of the fabrics used to create her elaborate costumes meant that they were often repurposed, and so very few garments directly linked to the Tudor Queen survive. Intriguingly, records show that she regularly gave many gifts of clothing to Parry, and the people of Bacton have speculated for centuries that their altar cloth might have been a gift to Parry from Elizabeth herself. A recent detailed examination of the altar cloth by Historic Royal Palaces curators has strengthened a theory that it once formed part of a court dress. It is made from cloth of silver – a high status fabric which Tudor sumptuary law dictated could only be worn by royalty, or the highest echelons of the aristocracy. Alongside the skilfully embroidered flowers embellishing the piece, the hand of a domestic embroiderer has been detected, adding caterpillars, butterflies, frogs and even a small rowing boat to the original design – this is typical of the type of embroidery undertaken by aristocratic Tudor ladies. Finally, dress historians have suggested that shaped seams at the back of the altar cloth point towards its history as a skirt panel. Now that the altar cloth has been formally identified as part of a dress, the question that has tantalised Bacton residents for generations remains: was this exquisite textile once worn by Queen Elizabeth I? As yet, no documentary evidence has been unearthed to suggest this – and yet the Queen is depicted in the famous ‘Rainbow portrait’ wearing a strikingly similar fabric. Blanche Parry’s monument to the Tudor Queen in St Faith’s Church depicts her kneeling beside her resplendent mistress, and is seen as one of the earliest examples of veneration of Elizabeth I. Might it be possible that her servant left another legacy of the famous ‘Virgin Queen’ for the residents of Bacton to worship?

NFL Star Shares Interesting Stance on National Anthem Protest

01:44
At this point, there have been a number of black NFL players who have made symbolic gestures during the playing of the national anthem before games in an effort to protest police shootings and other social injustices. From Colin Kaepernick and his 49ers teammate Eric Reid taking a knee during The Star-Spangled Banner to players like Martellus Bennett and Marcus Peters raising their fists during the anthem, it has turned into a movement. But in order for it to continue to be effective, Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett believes that at least one white player is going to have to join the protest to drive the point that’s being made home. Hawks Radio Announcer Burns Draymond Green for Dancing After Block

01:46
The Warriors beat the Hawks 105-100 on Monday night, and they did so due in large part to the defensive prowess of Draymond Green. Green—who has spoken publicly about wanting to win the Defensive Player of the Year award this season in recent weeks—recorded two big blocks in the final 43 seconds of the game to help Golden State eek out a win over Atlanta. And during his post-game press conference, he spoke about how he is personally offended by those who have suggested that the Warriors got worse on the defensive side of the ball when they signed Kevin Durant and let some of their bigger bodies go in free agency. President Obama Picks MJ over LeBron and Kobe, Says Ben Simmons Will Be Great

01:19
President Obama held an #askPOTUS Twitter Q&A on Thursday and, as he has been known to do in the past, he talked about sports for a portion of it. Twitter user @kool_ant asked him to choose between Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, and LeBron James. And to absolutely no one’s surprise, he went with MJ (despite this). But in doing so, he also name-dropped Ben Simmons and suggested that, in time, the LSU star might end up in the same category as MJ, Kobe, and LeBron. Wow. The kid is good, but MJ/Kobe/LeBron good? Yikes. The hype is real! Sinead O'Connor Is Reportedly Missing & 'Suicidal'

01:22
UPDATED 3:45 p.m. ET: Sinead O’Connor has been located. She is safe and is no longer listed as a missing or endangered person, according to the Wilmette Police. http://www.complex.com/music/2016/05/sinead-oconnor-reportedly-missing-and-suicidal Sinead O'Connor has reportedly gone missing and is at risk of suicide, according to TMZ. O'Connor went for an afternoon bike ride Sunday in Wilmette, Illinois, and when she had not return home from her bike ride, the police were called and have been searching for her ever since. She was last seen on a Raleigh motorized bicycle with a pink basket and wearing a black parka, black leather pants, and a sweatshirt that reads "Ireland" on the back. A police report has classified O'Connor as "missing suicidal." Last year, O'Connor shared several unsettling posts on Facebook that suggested she had plans to harm to herself. "I don't matter a shred to anyone. No one has come near me. I've died a million times already with the pain of it," she wrote. Her posts prompted authorities to locate the singer and give her "medical assistance." O'Connor posted again on Facebook from the hospital pleading with her family to visit her and love her. Days later, she seemed to be doing better and shared positive, healing notes on Facebook with her fans. Earlier this month, O'Connor returned to Facebook after Arsenio Hall hit her with a defamation lawsuit for $5 million in damages. She immediately shot back by telling him to "suck my dick." The Wilmette Police Department did not immediately respond to Complex's request for comment, but they have released an official statement confirming a concerned caller contacted the police regarding O'Connor's well-being before adding that "no other information is available at this time." Objects (Still) Matter: A Forum on Curating Beyond Fine Arts

01:54:53
MA Curatorial Practice and MA Design Research, Writing and Criticism present a panel discussion on the questions inherent in curating contemporary design—from topics to objects and from sponsors to venue—that relate to social, political and economic issues. What values are implied by curatorial choices? What due diligence is required? What value is assigned through selection, display and promotion of objects? In the age of crowdfunding and self-publishing, what compromises, if any, are acceptable? This panel addresses how the act of curating design today creates ripple effects that extend far beyond any one exhibition or collection. Additionally, it will address the ethical responsibility and political performance of design as a mass phenomenon in relation to the issues of display. Panelists include MFA Products of Design Chair Allan Chochinov; Deputy Director, Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian National Design Museum, Brooke Hodge; Founder, Moss Bureau, and MA Design Research, Writing and Criticism faculty member Murray Moss; and Designer and Founder, David Weeks Studio, David Weeks. Moderated by MA Design Research, Writing and Criticism Co-Chair Molly Heintz and MA Curatorial Practice Director of Curatorial Research Jovana Stokic.
'The Decision': Don’t Compare Kevin Durant & LeBron James

It was the perfect storm, really, one we likely won’t see again until—er, maybe next summer. The best (regular season) team in NBA history, the 73-9 Warriors, with an open roster spot, the salary cap shooting up from $70 to $94 million, and the perfect Warriors-style player, a 6’11” sharpshooter by the name of Kevin Durant, entering free agency at the peak of his prime. The Warriors were right to offer Durant a spot. Durant was right to accept. The rest of the NBA will have to figure this out. Suspect in Joe McKnight Killing Released From Police Custody

01:26
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office held a press conference on Friday afternoon to address their investigation into Joe McKnight’s death. During that press conference, Sheriff Newell Normand refused to reveal many details about the investigation, but he did attempt to dispel several of the stories that have been reported with regards to McKnight’s death. Sheriff Normand said that the department’s investigation has shown that Ronald Gasser, who shot and killed McKnight, fired three shots at McKnight from inside of his vehicle. He also said that Gasser did not stand over McKnight and shoot him, as has been previously reported. Additionally, he said that there is no proof that McKnight was in the act of apologizing to Gasser as one witness has suggested, and he also said that there is no known video evidence of the shooting. Ex-Football Star Wrongfully Convicted of Rape, Blames Brock Turner's Sentence on 'Privilege'

03:33
Back in 2002, when high school football star Brian Banks was just 16, he was accused of raping a woman and charged as an adult in court. He was later sentenced to six years in prison and served more than five of those years before the woman who accused him of rape revealed that he hadn’t actually committed the crime. Banks was released from jail in 2012 after his conviction was overturned, and while he has since landed a job working in the NFL’s Los Angeles office, Banks lost five years of his freedom due to the wrongful accusation made against him. He also missed out on the chance to attend USC to play football and saw his NFL dreams get cut short due to his circumstances. On Monday, Banks spoke with the New York Daily News about the recent rape case involving 20-year-old Stanford swimmer Brock Turner. Like Banks, Turner was found guilty on three felony charges after sexually assaulting a woman in 2015. But unlike Banks, Turner was given just six months in jail—and possibly three months with good behavior—as a result of what he did. It has caused a lot of outrage this week, and Turner’s father made things significantly worse by penning a letter to the judge in his son's case that suggested that Turner shouldn’t be forced to serve a significant jail sentence because it would be “a steep price to pay for 20 minutes of action out of 20 plus years of life.” While speaking with the Daily News about Turner's sentence, Banks called it "a case of privilege." “It seems like the judge based his decision on lifestyle," Banks said. "He’s lived such a good life and has never experienced anything serious in his life that would prepare him for prison. He was sheltered so much he wouldn’t be able to survive prison. What about the kid who has nothing, he struggles to eat, struggles to get a fair education? What about the kid who has no choice who he is born to and has drug-addicted parents of a non-parent household? Where is the consideration for them when they commit a crime?” Banks added: “You know a man is guilty, so why aren’t we unleashing half of the punishment that was unleashed on Brian Banks when he was innocent and there was no evidence? They gave me six years. They gave him six months.” Banks also addressed the victim in the case by saying that he feels she “has been totally ignored.” And he spoke about the hardships Turner will avoid by only serving a six-month jail sentence. “I was kidnapped, taken against my will, placed in a box for five years and two months,” said Banks, who now serves as a board member for the California Innocence Project, the organization that helped him regain his freedom. “I was denied all human rights. When I screamed and pleaded and begged, it fell on deaf ears.” Send all complaints, compliments, and tips to [email protected] Subscribe to our New Complex Channel: https://goo.gl/43ac5w Subscribe to Complex for More: http://goo.gl/PJeLOl Check out more of Complex here: http://www.complex.com https://twitter.com/ComplexMag https://www.facebook.com/complex https://www.instagram.com/complex/ https://plus.google.com/+complex/ COMPLEX is a community of creators and curators, armed with the Internet, committed to surfacing and sharing the voices and conversations that define our new America. Russell Westbrook & Blake Griffin: What to Make of Celtics Trade Rumors

01:47
"Where will Russell Westbrook be traded now that the Thunder missed out on the chance to re-sign Kevin Durant?" That was the question many NBA fans asked back on the 4th of July after KD decided to take his talents to the Warriors. Westbrook is set to become a free agent next summer, and like KD, there’s a good chance he might leave Oklahoma City once he hits the open market. So at this point, it sounds like the Thunder would be willing to try and work out a trade for Westbrook if they can find the right trade partner, simply so that they can get something in return for their superstar. The Lakers, Clippers, and Timberwolves have all been suggested as potential landing spots for Westbrook, but according to Bleacher Report reporter Howard Beck, the Celtics are the “most likely” trade destination for the five-time NBA All-Star. Beck says there have been several NBA general managers who have told him that Westbrook could be shipped off to Boston prior to the start of the 2016-17 NBA season. Here is what Beck said in a video released early Wednesday. Mark Hunt Calls Out UFC & Brock Lesnar After Loss

Mark Hunt is still very angry about Brock Lesnar being allowed to fight him at UFC 200 despite failing a pair of drug tests prior to the event. As a result, Lesnar may have won the UFC 200 match by unanimous decision, but Hunt has prevailed in the war of words that has broken out in the weeks following the fight. During an interview with The MMA Hour on Monday, Hunt went off on the UFC, Dana White, and, of course, Lesnar and likely made The MMA Hour hosts thankful that they can't be subjected to FCC fines. Kristaps Porzingis Finally Meets the Kid Who Cried When the Knicks Drafted Him

When the Knicks selected Kristaps Porzingis with the fourth overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, the reactions from fans inside the Barclays Center were way more negative than they were positive. The Latvian big man was a relative unknown in the states, and international players (with very few exceptions) don't exactly have the best reputation of developing into NBA stars. So, the boos rained down and the fans freaked out. One kid in particular got his 15 minutes of fame out of it all for crying and acting as though his world had ended, because his tantrum was picked up by the live television broadcast. Charlie Sheen's Doctor Reportedly Injected Himself With Charlie Sheen's Blood

01:22
Since revealing he was HIV positive during a tell-all interview with Matt Lauer back in November, Charlie Sheen has made the search for a cure his top priority. "If anybody can fight this thing and discover a cure, it’s me," Sheen told Radar in an interview shortly after his announcement. "I will exhaust every resource available to me. I will sit with every expert. I will move forward until something’s revealed." Sheen's journey recently took the storied actor to Mexico to seek the assistance of Dr. Samir Chachoua, who provides alternative treatment to cancer and AIDS patients. "This brilliant man tried to end AIDS and cancer twenty years ago but had his work stolen and destroyed," a website associated with the doctor once claimed. The site also reportedly sells a "universal elixir" for around $400, Salon reports. However, Sheen entered the experience with an optimistic frame of mind. Iggy Azalea Caught Nick Young Cheating on Security Footage

02:06
Why did Iggy Azalea end her engagement to Nick Young recently? That’s the question everyone has been trying to answer ever since she announced she had broken up with Young early last week. Initially, the thought was that she did it as a result of the D’Angelo Russell scandal. The Instagram message that she sent out announcing the breakup—“Although I love Nick and have tried to rebuild my trust in him,” she wrote, “it’s become apparent in the last few weeks I am unable to”—seemed to indicate that there were still trust issues between Iggy and Young in light of the Russell situation. But on Wednesday, an explosive Life & Style report suggested there might be a different reason for the split. According to the report, Iggy decided to break up with Young after he got his ex-girlfriend Keonna Green, the mother of his 4-year-old son Nick Jr., pregnant. New York Museum of Modern Art Photos

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) is an art museum located in Midtown Manhattan in New York City, on 53rd Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. It has been important in developing and collecting modernist art, and is often identified as the most influential museum of modern art in the world.[2] It is also one of the largest. The museum's collection offers an overview of modern and contemporary art,[3] including works of architecture and design, drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, prints, illustrated books and artist's books, film and electronic media. The Library's holdings include approximately 300,000 books and exhibition catalogs, over 1,000 periodical titles, and over 40,000 files of ephemera about individual artists and groups.[4] The archives holds primary source material related to the history of modern and contemporary art.[5] MoMA also houses a restaurant, the Modern, run by Alsace-born chef Gabriel Kreuther. The idea for The Museum of Modern Art was developed in 1929 primarily by Abby Aldrich Rockefeller (wife of John D. Rockefeller, Jr.) and two of her friends, Lillie P. Bliss and Mary Quinn Sullivan.[6] They became known variously as "the Ladies", "the daring ladies" and "the adamantine ladies". They rented modest quarters for the new museum in the Heckscher Building at 730 Fifth Avenue (corner of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street) in Manhattan, and it opened to the public on November 7, 1929, nine days after the Wall Street Crash. Abby had invited A. Conger Goodyear, the former president of the board of trustees of the Albright Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York, to become president of the new museum. Abby became treasurer. At the time, it was America's premier museum devoted exclusively to modern art, and the first of its kind in Manhattan to exhibit European modernism.[7] One of Abby's early recruits for the museum staff was the noted Japanese-American photographer Soichi Sunami (at that time best known for his portraits of modern dance pioneer Martha Graham), who served the museum as its official documentary photographer from 1930 until 1968.[8][9] Goodyear enlisted Paul J. Sachs and Frank Crowninshield to join him as founding trustees. Sachs, the associate director and curator of prints and drawings at the Fogg Museum at Harvard University, was referred to in those days as a collector of curators. Goodyear asked him to recommend a director and Sachs suggested Alfred H. Barr, Jr., a promising young protege. Under Barr's guidance, the museum's holdings quickly expanded from an initial gift of eight prints and one drawing. Its first successful loan exhibition was in November 1929, displaying paintings by Van Gogh, Gauguin, Cézanne, and Seurat.[10] First housed in six rooms of galleries and offices on the twelfth floor of Manhattan's Heckscher Building,[11] on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street, the museum moved into three more temporary locations within the next ten years. Abby's husband was adamantly opposed to the museum (as well as to modern art itself) and refused to release funds for the venture, which had to be obtained from other sources and resulted in the frequent shifts of location. Nevertheless, he eventually donated the land for the current site of the museum, plus other gifts over time, and thus became in effect one of its greatest benefactors.[12]:376, 386 During that time it initiated many more exhibitions of noted artists, such as the lone Vincent van Gogh exhibition on November 4, 1935. Containing an unprecedented sixty-six oils and fifty drawings from the Netherlands, as well as poignant excerpts from the artist's letters, it was a major public success due to Barr's arrangement of the exhibit, and became "a precursor to the hold van Gogh has to this day on the contemporary imagination"

Former NBA Player To Charles Barkley: 'Stop Talking Sh*t'

02:01
The Cavaliers stomped the Hawks last night in a playoff game that wasn't even as close as the final 123-98 score would indicate. It was so bad that, after it ended, Charles Barkley did what he's paid to do and analyzed the game told Atlanta that they should have responded to Cleveland running up the score by intentionally trying to injure a Cavaliers player. The Cavaliers set a new NBA record by hitting 25 three-pointers during the contest—including 18 in the first half—but a handful of those threes came at the end of the game when it was already well out of hand.
