Transactional Analysis games - introduction

02:54
Start to learn TA and get your first certification - online: http://ta-course.com/ Games are one of the ways we structure time. Games are defined by a series of hidden transactions. The Social and psychological level of transactions do not match. They always have the same process. Situations and participants in the games may change but the pattern will stay the same. There is a theme, a game ‘advantage’ a ‘payoff’ and a reinforcement of an underlying core belief. Games are played at an unconscious level. At the end of a game people feel discomfort. We call the payoff. Every game contains a moment of surprise or confusion - called ‘the crossup’. There are three degrees of games. The first is socially accepted, the second is kept a secret and the third produces irreversible changes.

Games People Play: The Basic Handbook of Transactional Analysis ABOUT: We think we’re relating to other people–but actually we’re all playing games. Forty years ago, Games People Play revolutionized our understanding of what really goes on during our most basic social interactions. More than five million copies later, Dr. Eric Berne’s classic is as astonishing–and revealing–as it was on the day it was first published. This anniversary edition features a new introduction by Dr. James R. Allen, president of the International Transactional Analysis Association, and Kurt Vonnegut’s brilliant Life magazine review from 1965. We play games all the time–sexual games, marital games, power games with our bosses, and competitive games with our friends. Detailing status contests like “Martini” (I know a better way), to lethal couples combat like “If It Weren’t For You” and “Uproar,” to flirtation favorites like “The Stocking Game” and “Let’s You and Him Fight,” Dr. Berne exposes the secret ploys and unconscious maneuvers that rule our intimate lives. Explosive when it first appeared, Games People Play is now widely recognized as the most original and influential popular psychology book of our time. It’s as powerful and eye-opening as ever. About the Author Dr. Eric Berne, as the originator of transactional analysis, has attained recognition for developing one of the most innovative approaches to modern psychotherapy. Discover how many of these "secret games" you play everyday of your life: Iwfy (If it weren't for you); Sweetheart; Threadbare; Harried; Alcoholic, and many more. A groundbreaking book that bores deep into the heart of all our relationships, GAMES PEOPLE PLAY is a classic that should be read again and again.

TEDxJaffa - Dr. Haim Shapira - Games People Play

21:56
In his TEDxJaffa talk, Dr. Haim Shapira talks about how to use 'game theory' to understand the motivations of others. Haim was born in Russia in 1962 and immigrated to Israel in 1977, where he earned a PhD in mathematical genetics for his dissertation on Games Theory and another PhD for his research about the mathematical and philosophical approaches to Infinity. He teaches mathematics, psychology, philosophy, and literature, and gives very popular lectures on Eastern and Western philosophies, happiness and optimism, the meaning of dreams, nonsense and insanity as well as friendship and love, appearing in Israel's leading venues. His books "Conversations on Game Theory" and "Things That Really Matter" were both huge successes, quickly reaching the top spot on Israel's best-selling non-fiction charts. He is also an accomplished Pianist. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. Here's what I'm mentioning: Eric Berns's book "Games People Play", and his theory - Transactional Analysis. Reading Peter Gay's biography of Freud, I was reminded of Eric Berne's excellent and insightful take on human psychology, called transactional analysis. His book inspired the famous song by Joe South and explains a great deal of human obnoxiousness and neurosis (teacher vs student, parent vs child, cop vs robber, etc.). http://www.ericberne.com/kurt-vonnegut-review-of-games-people-play/ Games People Play (Joe South) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5znh58WITU8 Transactional Analysis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKNyFSLJy6o https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOqJ4sc9TAc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58F2qYyAzME

Эрик Берн - Игры, в которые играют люди / Eric Berne Games People Play (*) Bookinator

03:00
The psychology of human relationships. What do you say After you say Hello! The psychology of human destiny. Психика в действии(Перевод книги «The Mind in Action»). 2.Введение в психиатрию и психоанализ для непосвященных (Перевод книги «Layman’s Guide to Psychiatry and Psychoanalysis»). 3.Переводы книги «Transactional Analysis in Psychotherapy»: Трансактный анализ в психотерапии: Системная индивидуальная и социальная психотерапия Трансакционный анализ в психотерапии 4.Структура и динамика организаций и групп. http://www.fairewinds.com/ http://fairewinds.org/content/games-people-play http://fairewinds.org/donations In this week's podcast, Fairewinds looks at how difficult it is for the public to meaningfully participate in the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's licensing process. Arnie Gundersen was retained by Friends of the Earth to assess major problems at the San Onofre nuclear plant in California that have caused a year long shutdown. Arnie met with the NRC this week concerning his analysis of what went wrong and how the problems were foreseeable. In this podcast, Arnie discusses how Southern California Edison deliberately withheld information to make his technical analysis more difficult to accomplish. Fairewinds taped the meeting, so our podcast listeners can hear for themselves the difficulties Arnie encountered and the games the nuclear industry plays to prevent public participation.

Note on Games People Play by Eric Berne

06:35
Games People Play by Eric Berne This is one of these great books I had the chance to discover, after reading 50 Psychology Classics. Very often it is funny; in fact I had the chance to look at a couple of videos on YouTube, where Eric Berne seemed to be a very pleasant man. If it weren’t for you...This is one of the many games explained in this book. I tend to hear that sentence quite often, but it turns out that we have the partners we search for, deserve…we want them to prevent us from doing something we anyway do not want. Ain’t it awful? Some of us want to feel pain, indeed one of the sexual games is masochism. Why don’t you- the way the author explains and gives examples makes the book readable and enjoyable. At parties, Mrs. White says that her husband is making some furniture, but it’s no good. “Why don’t you” take carpentry classes, why don’t you buy better tools...there are all kinds of suggestions. Alcoholic, even dry alcoholic is another type of game. I’m only trying to help you IOTHY…here we are given the story of the poker game, where Eric Berne saw better how IOTHY is played: a businessman and a psychiatrist were left to play a hand at poker, the businessman raised and the psychiatrist raised too, saying I’m only trying to help you, after which he won the (poker) game. Sexual games: let’s you and him fight, perversion Perversion deals with fetishism, masochism. There is the example I liked from Great Expectations: make me a mud pie…oh, how dirty you are, which translates into the game of Damn If You Do, Damn If You Don’t Stocking game…woman who comes into the room, raises her leg and with that the interest of the male companions…. Uproar- that’s a game I just played, with my daughter-disagreements over program and more. Now I’ve got You SOB There are games of the Underworld: cops and robbers, where we learn that there’s a robber in many cops and a cop in many robbers. Professional robbers play it straight, safe and those who are in for the fun leave a card, make waves… Games prisoners play: How Do You Get Out Of Here…some inmates simulate, they don’t really want out, they sabotage the plan, as the final day approaches. You’ve Got To Listen is the game where the player says so to gain attention, the complaint or its solution are irrelevant to him. Then there’s the example which reminded me of familiar communist territory: a kind of an aid agency has an employee who insists that a welfare recipient gets a job, where upon the applicant makes a complaint and the employee is rebuffed. Why? After all, she only made the applicant get a job. The game was different: the applicants pretended to search for jobs, the agency kept reporting improvements, even if nobody got any job and all were carrying on. That’s the communist principle: we pretend to work they pretend to pay us. The Peasant Game brings us close to home, in Bulgaria. An old woman is suffering, sells her cow to get to a doctor in Sofia. There she is seen by this specialist who recommends treatment, medicine. Back home in her village, the Peasant keeps the prescriptions and is proud to tell people in the community how she met this grand doctor, even if there’s no improvement in her condition. Gee, Wonderful Professor…GWP Great book! Gee, Wonderful Writer! Seen on YouTube

Games People Play | Travis Woo | TEDxHumboldtBay

04:43
Travis shares his view on the importance of playing games, how they benefit our society. As a life time gamer, who makes a living playing and writing about the card game Magic the Gathering, his insights are revealing. My TEDx talk is about playing games. It is the story of me, the card game kid, now adult traveling game blogger. Us humans, we often question our purpose in life, and many of us draw a line between “work” and “play”. So where does playing games fit into this? Is playing games a productive use of time? Can it be a worthwhile life pursuit? Is it a fulfilling option for adults? I think so. Specifically I want to share the idea of the game Magic: the Gathering with you. This is a card game I started playing as a 5 year old for fun, and a game I play as a 24 year old for fun… and work. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
