Bloody Roar (PS1) Gameplay

20:32
See my review for this game here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irnE3vZbGrg This is some gameplay of Bloody Roar on the PS1 as played on a PS2 with texture smoothing on. Though the series has fallen under the rug in recent years, at one time Bloody Roar was one of the more popular fighting franchises. The original came out of nowhere. There was no hype behind the game, and very little coverage. All I remember is one month Gamepro having a preview of it (a really positive preview), and then the next month there was the review. After reading the enthusiasm about the game in the review (I believe it was Scary larry or Possible Major Mike who reviewed it) I knew I had to try it. I rented it as soon as I could, then I later bought it. This game is pure fun. It does cater to button mashing, but there is still plenty of strategy to be had in the middle of the bouts. Mashing will only get you so far. At the time I didn't know how to describe this gameplay of the game, but I later played Fighting Vipers on the Saturn, and noticed that Bloody Roar borrows some of it's gameplay mechanics from FV. However, it's OK to borrow ideas in gaming as long as you put your own spin on them, and that's exactly what Bloody Roar does. If you're a fighting game fan who's still interested in the PS1, then look into Bloody Roar, or Bloody Roar 2. They may not be the best on the system, but they are still a damn good time. In the gameplay I'm playing on level 2 difficulty. Sure call me a sissy if you want to, but even on level 2 difficulty, I had some close matches. I had my butt puckered on more than one occasion when capturing this footage. Bloody Roar is also available on the Playstation store for those PS3 owners who are interested in it. NOTE: Some people may not know this, but Fox is actually a dude. Seriously.

Bloody Roar - Gado Playthrough (PSX)

44:13
Game: Bloody Roar System: PSX Me (GSTAR321) doing a live commentary and playthrough of Bloody Roar for the PSX (Played on my PS3 via the PSN version). I play as Gado. Bloody Roar is one of the most enjoyable fighting games to play. It was released in arcades back in 1997 under the title 'Beastorizer'. Later on in that same year, it was ported to the PSX under the title 'Bloody Roar'. Bloody Roar is unique compared with other fighting games due to one specific aspect: You can morph mid-fight into a 'Beast'. This is exceptionally well done and makes the matches extremely enjoyable. Characters can morph into any number of things such as a Lion, Wild Boar, a Wolf, Gorilla and so on. When characters take on their 'Beast' form, they gain additional attacks, combos and other abilities. This game (along with the rest in the franchise) is incredible. It's one of the most classic fighting games I think of when I look back to the past. Do yourself a favour, check this game out and get some Bloody Roar into you! Arcade playthrough starts at 15:35 Enjoy!

Bloody Roar Extreme Game Sample - Xbox

10:06
Bloody Roar Extreme is basically the same as the Japanese GameCube "Bloody Roar: Primal Fury" (which was in fact called BRE in Japan) except with very slightly improved visuals, its opening is in 3D instead of anime-style (for what it's worth, it was recreated well), the hero of the BR manga, Fang, is playable (hidden as Yugo's 3rd outfit) and... The Duke (well, you could use another controller, but if you don't have one, then... Duke). It's a good fighting game. This is a standard video showing a few fights and displaying a few things like Beast/Hyper Beast, stages, and a Ring Out. The damage is set to "2" so fights last longer. I guess the only BR game I have left to make a video for is BR3. Enjoy.

Bloody Roar All Characters

01:42
A random blast from the past. In yet another Video of my Fighting Game rosters series, I focus on a series made and published by Hudson Soft (now defunct) and developed by Eighting. For those unaware of the series' premise, it involves a group of people known as "Zoanthropes" who can transform into humanoid beasts (hence why their beast forms are included in the selection of images above). All characters are listed in alphabetical order by surname (where known) or alias followed by their nationality (with that info being derived from the Bloody Roar wikia). If any mistakes were made, I apologize in advance as I only have second knowledge of this series via TV tropes, Fightersgeneration.com, and the aforementioned Bloody Roar wikia to go by. Graphical Evolution of Bloody Roar (1997-2003)

04:47
Evolution of all Bloody Roar games from 1997-2003! Bloody Roar (ブラッディロア Buraddi Roa) is a series of fighting games created by Hudson Soft, and developed together with Eighting. The series has been published by multiple companies, including Virgin Interactive, Activision, and Konami. Konami currently holds the rights to the franchise after Hudson Soft was absorbed into the former company in 2012. The series began in 1997 under the name Beastorizer. The game's theme incorporated anthropomorphism, where the player has the ability to transform into a half-human, half-animal creature known as a Zoanthrope (the name came from the clinical term, 'zoanthropy', which is similar to that of lycanthropy). The game would appear under the name "Bloody Roar" when ported to the PlayStation in 1998, which would become the permanent title thereafter. Games included in the video: Bloody Roar: Hyper Beast Duel (1997) Bloody Roar II (1999) Bloody Roar 3 (2000) Bloody Roar: Primal Fury (2002) Bloody Roar Extreme (2003) Bloody Roar 4 (2003) DreamMix TV: World Fighters (2003) Intro from Velosofy! https://www.youtube.com/user/velosofy Outro song: Housewell & Side-B feat. Bloody Roar 3 Game Sample - Playstation 2

11:52
I think this is the last Bloody Roar game that I haven't made a video for, which means I've finished off my BR collection (now arcade versions of the games are a different story). Bloody Roar 3 is what I'd consider the "second" worst BR game, with only BR4 being worse than it. One could forgive it as it was rushed to PS2 to diversify its early line-up, but it still doesn't hold a candle to BR2. The game doesn't look leaps and bounds better than BR2 and doesn't seem to have an over-abundance of special effects like BR2 either. The character models don't look too shabby though and the environments at least don't look foggy or suffer slowdown like BR4. The game's opening is lame and seems tossed together and it seems to re-use some artwork from BR2, and the load times are not kind. The reason I'm kind of talking about this game the way I am is because while I've had it for years, I've never played it until now (I hadn't had a PS2 that could read blue-bottom discs). The story scenes look incredibly lazy, though they still used 2D artwork and such for some things, where as the later games were trying to phase that out entirely. The fighting is generally the same, although the controls seem a bit sensitive. This was the first BR game to introduce more than one Beast Drive and the last time Alice would wear an interesting outfit, not look fat (in rabbit form), and remotely look like the original Alice from BR1. The game has what the case considers 14 playable characters and 9 interactive 3D arenas. There are also a variety of unlockable modes, such as High Speed Battle, No Guard, Sumo Wrestling, etc. The audio is high quality and the game would be way more tolerable with lower load times...however, I don't find the music of this particular game to be better than BR2 and BR2 had TWO amazing soundtracks...so that's hard to beat. BR1 was the first and a good entry game, so for reasons like that, I can't really fault it all that much...and BR3 is outclassed by the later "Primal Fury/Extreme" expansion, in terms of visuals and such...they are generally an upgrade of BR3 and probably are my second favorite, outside of BR2. BR3 isn't so bad, but it still would technically be the second worst one for me, because I kind of overlook BR1. This is a video of the game in action. Enjoy.

Bloody Roar Primal Fury - All Beast Drives (+Secrets) w. Replays

14:07
Includes Shina's and Buzuzima's Beast Drive Combos, Shen Longs Beast Drive Combo Finisher and Kick Combo Finisher (Long also got those moves), Chronos' secret Beast Drive and variations on Uriko's Wall Jump Beast Drive. No offense... but I just now wonder why none of the characters are native African, considering the origins of most animals in this game (how about Shina or Gado... srsly...). Also, this franchise has soooo much unused potential! How about a Rhino? A spider? Something prehistoric like a Sabretooth? A Manticore boss? A ninja rat? A bear or panda? Also, kinda disappointing how various characters from the second or first game didn't end up here, like the monkey or the fox.

Bloody Roar 1 [PS1] - play as Uriko

11:06
Used external codes to play as Uriko on the PS1 version of Bloody Roar. Read on below for her moves and more information... This is a 1-rounded playthrough of the boss character Uriko in the PSX version of Bloody Roar 1. She is the only and final boss of this game, and is an unplayable character, meaning that she cannot be legitimately selected. Therefore, she can only be selected by using external hack codes. Uriko initially first appears as a little kid in her intro, and then transforms into a powerful woman. She is fast, powerful and deals high damage. She has a beast form, but unlike the other characters she cannot change into the beast at will, she only transforms automatically when she is low on life. Her beast form is slow, but deals even higher damage. Here are her Human form moves... Key: [P] = Punch; [K] = Kick; N = Neutral; LC = Low Crouch (done via D,D) ========================= HUMAN FORM ========================= ------------ Regular Moves ------------ Combo 1: [P],[P],[P],[K] Combo 2: [P],[P],[P],D+[K] Combo 3: F+[P],[P],[P],D+[K] Combo 4: F+[P],[P],[P],U+[K] Swirl Strike: DF+[P] Low Combo 1: D+[P],D+[K],N+[K] Low Combo 2: D+[P],D+[K],D+[K] Low Double Strike: DB+[P] (turns Uriko around) Overhead Slash: B+[P] Jump Kick: U+[P] Shoulder Barge: F,F+[P] or [P] during run/dash Rising Strike: LC,[P] Ground Somersault: LC,[K] Double Kick: [K],D+[K] High Kick: F+[K] Mid Kick: DF+[K] Low to High: D+[K],N+[K] Low Double: D+[K],D+[K] Turn Sweep: DB+[K] Roundhouse: B+[K] Jump kick: U+[K] Sweep & Overhead: F,F+[K] Slide Tackle: run/dash, [K] ------------ Special Moves ------------ Ground Pound: D,DF,F + [P] Lightening Orb: D,DB,B + [P] Double Axe Kick: D,DF,F + [K] ======== Additional Information ======== ---- Her 2nd and 3rd colour palettes / models are messed up and is clearly unfinished or glitched. ---- Choosing her 2nd or 3rd colour palettes / models will mess up the colours of the text in the game. ---- Beating a 1-player game with her will give you Yugo's ending. ---- Despite being an unselectable character, she appears on the time ranking screen perfectly. ---- In a 1-player game, if you reach Uriko with her, the pre-fight boss intro actually focuses on YOU transforming into the adult Uriko instead of the CPU Uriko! ---- As mentioned above, you cannot change into her Beast form by will. She only transforms automatically when she is low on life. ---- The arcade version of this game is known as Beastorizer.
