A look at Dragon Warrior, the RPG released on the NES in 1989. ✅ Full episodes now on Amazon Prime! http://amzn.to/2wPbBq4 ✅ Join Pat the NES Punk, James Rolfe, Pro Jared, brentalfloss and others as we talk about great games! Dragon Quest (Japanese: ドラゴンクエスト Hepburn: Doragon Kuesuto?), also released as Dragon Warrior, is the first role-playing video game (RPG) in the Dragon Quest media franchise. It was developed by Chunsoft for the Family Computer (or Famicom for short) and published by Enix in Japan in 1986 as Dragon Quest and by Nintendo in 1989 in North America for the Nintendo Entertainment System (or NES) as Dragon Warrior. Dragon Quest has been ported and remade for several video game platforms, including the MSX, PC-9801, X68000, Super Famicom, Game Boy Color, and mobile phones. In play, players control a hero character who is charged with saving the Kingdom of Alefgard and rescuing its princess from the evil Dragonlord. Dragon Warrior‍ 's story became the second part in a trilogy. Several more anime and manga games, which revolved around this overarching plot were created.

CGRundertow DRAGON WARRIOR for NES Video Game Review

04:20
Dragon Warrio review. Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Dragon Warrior for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Think back to 1989, and think about the Role Playing Games you may have heard of: Wizardy, Ultima, Advanced Dungeons And Dragons, etc. The RPG world was, believe it or not, heavily shifted to the western market. While Square's Final Fantasy, released in 1987 in Japan and 1990 in America, shares a large part of the thanks for changing this perspective, Dragon Warrior from Enix predates Square's flagship title by about a year in each region, and served as the stepping stone for a fantastic RPG series, as well as the building block for the Japanese role-playing market as a whole. Dragon Warrior offered players the chance to travel far and wide on an epic quest to rescue a fair princess and save the world from the evil DragonLord. Light a torch, and get a grinding stone ready, because this game is a big time investment...but one worth delving into if you're interested in RPG History. This video review features video gameplay footage of Dragon Warrior on the NES, and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Jonathan. History of Dragon Quest ドラゴンクエスト (1986-2016) - Video Game History

22:59
Celebrate the 30 year anniversary of the Akira Toriyama's Dragon Quest franchise with this video that takes you through every game in the franchise including Dragon Quest: Builders. (Release: Octorber 11, 2016) Dragon Quest is a series of role-playing video games created by Yuji Horii and his studio, Armor Project, which are published by Square Enix (formerly Enix). The first game of the series premiered in Japan in 1986 on the Nintendo Entertainment System, and Dragon Quest games have subsequently been localized for markets in North America, Europe and Australia, on over a dozen video game consoles. In addition to traditional role-playing games, the series includes first-person adventure games, portable games, massively multiplayer online role-playing games, and games for mobile phones. Dragon Quest is Square Enix's second most successful franchise internationally behind the Final Fantasy franchise, having sold over 64 million units worldwide to date. It has been termed "Japan's most popular series" and "Japan's favorite series" by video game news organizations such as IGN, 1UP.com, and GameSpy. The original game in the series, renamed Dragon Warrior outside Japan, was released in 1986 in Japan and 1989 in North America. Dragon Quest games are released in Japan and, until 2004's Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, were later localized for the North American market under the Dragon Warrior title. That game was also the first main series game to be released outside Japan and North America. In addition to the 10 games released as part of the main (numbered) series and their many spin-offs and related titles, the Dragon Quest series has spawned many works in other media including anime, movies, novels and manga, and radio dramas. Many games, particularly the main series, have soundtrack album releases featuring their music in different arrangements. Square Enix has also consistently released companion books for its games, which provide additional backstory and plot information, as well as detailed walkthroughs. The majority of the games and media related to the series have only been released in Japan. Games included in video: Main series: Dragon Quest - 1986 Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line - 1987 Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation - 1988 Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen - 1990 Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride - 1992 Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation - 1995 Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past - 2000 Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King - 2004 Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies - 2009 Dragon Quest X - 2012 Spin-offs: Dragon Quest Monsters: Dragon Warrior Monsters - 1998 Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 - 2001 Dragon Quest Monsters: Caravan Heart - 2003 Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker - 2006 Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 - 2010 Dragon Quest Monsters: Wanted! - 2010 Dragon Quest Monsters: Super Light - 2014 Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 - 2016 Mystery Dungeon: Torneko no Daibōken: Fushigi no Dungeon - 1993 Torneko: The Last Hope - 1999 Dragon Quest Characters: Torneko no Daibōken 3: Fushigi no Dungeon - 2002 Dragon Quest: Shōnen Yangus to Fushigi no Dungeon - 2006 Slime: Slime MoriMori Dragon Quest: Shōgeki no Shippo Dan - 2003 Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime - 2005 Slime MoriMori Dragon Quest 3: Taikaizoku to Shippo Dan - 2011 Itadaki Street: Dragon Quest & Final Fantasy in Itadaki Street Special - 2004 Dragon Quest & Final Fantasy in Itadaki Street Portable - 2006 Itadaki Street DS - 2007 Dragon Quest & Final Fantasy in Itadaki Street Mobile - 2011 Fortune Street - 2011 Monster Battle Road: Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road - 2007 Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road II - 2009 Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road Victory - 2010 Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road Scanner - 2016 Other: Kenshin Dragon Quest: Yomigaerishi Densetsu no Ken - 2003 Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors - 2007 Dragon Quest Wars - 2009 Dragon Quest Monster Parade - 2013 Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below - 2015 Hoshi no Dragon Quest - 2015 Dragon Quest Builders - 2016 Dragon Quest Heroes II: Futago no Ō to Yogen no Owari - 2016 Like me on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/vgaminghistory Like me on Twitter: https://twitter.com/VGamingHistory ... Dragon's Lair - NES - Angry Video Game Nerd - Episode 37

Subscribe: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=JamesNintendoNerd Watch all Angry Video Game Nerd episodes https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2B009153AC977F90 Angry Video Game Nerd (Episode 37) Dragon's Lair First released on laserdisc in 1983, Dragon's Lair marked a revolution in arcade gaming. Rather than sprite-based graphics, the game was designed entirely in full motion video (FMV) and was controlled through the player making decisions at certain points to determine Dirk the Daring's fate. The game was a massive success, and reported grossed over $32 million by 1984. Dragon's Lair had many spin-offs and ports in the following decade. It was ported to many home computers with most of the animations intact, and received a sequel called Dragon's Lair II: Time Warp in 1991. However, in 1990, the NES and SNES both received a very unique version of Dragon's Lair. Due to the memory limitations of the consoles, the game bore no resemblance to the arcade version and instead took the form of a platformer. This port holds a reputation for being punishingly difficult due to slow control and no checkpoints. In this episode, the Nerd teams up with Dirk the Daring to defeat the dragon, cross a drawbridge, and open a door. While facing down these legendary challenges, we explore the philosophy of being trapped in a pool of piss, what purpose Dirk's health bar serves, and how to kill a dragon. When it's all said and done, we may even get to see the second screen of the game, too. Dragon Warrior is one of the Best Games Ever

09:59
In this video we'll be taking a nostalgic trip back to the early days of role-playing games and discussing Dragon Warrior for the NES. The classic fantasy tale involves a hero of legend, a princess, a magical kingdom and a sorcerer who is also a dragon. When it was originally released in Japan as Dragon Quest it was an instant hit, but when it came to the U.S. gamers weren't originally interested until Enix and Nintendo practically gave it away. After its success, many RPGs used Dragon Warrior as a foundation for their adventure, borrowing heavily from its plot, gameplay, design, aesthetics and mechanical elements. It's effects are still clearly visible in dozens of games spanning the decades since its original release and it's clearly one of the best games ever.
Dragon Warrior 2014 Cartoon New Release Game

23:48
Dragon Warrior, known as Dragon Quest (ドラゴンクエスト Doragon Kuesuto?) in Japan, is the first role-playing video game (RPG) in the Dragon Quest media franchise. It was developed by Chunsoft for the Family Computer (known in Japan as the or Famicom) and published by Enix in Japan in 1986. Dragon Warrior has been ported and remade for several video game platforms, including the MSX, PC-9801, X68000, Super Famicom, Game Boy Color, and mobile phones. A version of the game for Android and iOS has been released in Japan on November 28, 2013.[2] During the game, players control a hero character who is charged with saving the kingdom of Alefgard and rescuing its princess from the antagonistic Dragonlord. Dragon Warrior's story later became the second part in a trilogy that encompasses the first three games in the series. Several anime and manga, which revolved around this overarching plot, were created. Two of the manga take place between the events in Dragon Warrior and its prequel Dragon Warrior III. The game was created by Yuji Horii, who took inspiration from previous RPGs such as Wizardry, Ultima, and his own 1983 title The Portopia Serial Murder Case. Horii wanted to create an RPG which would appeal to a wide audience of people who were unfamiliar with the genre or video games in general, place a greater emphasis than other RPGs on storytelling and emotional involvement, and expose the mainly Western genre to Japan. Manga artist and Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama produced the game's artwork and Koichi Sugiyama composed its music. The North American localization released in 1989 featured numerous changes, including battery-backed RAM save games (rather than using a password save system), modified character sprites and pseudo-Elizabethan English style dialog. Dragon Quest was commercially successful in Japan; its release as Dragon Warrior in North America was less favorably received. Later, Western critics noted the game's shortcomings but acknowledged its importance to the genre. Its original pseudo-Elizabethan English script has been praised in many of these reviews. Fan-made ROM hacks were released with substantial changes to the game. The game's sound effects have also been orchestrated, and its music has been performed at numerous concerts. As a whole, Dragon Warrior has been credited with establishing the basic template for the Japanese console RPGs that followed.

DRAGON QUEST 1 - PS4 REVIEW

04:46
Hey everyone for this review I take on Dragon Quest 1 for the Playstation 4 this version is also on 3ds and a ton of systems over its 31 year history. This is the grandfather of JRPGS and this version on ps4 is mostly based on the mobile release because of this the graphics aren't gonna be everyones cup of tea. However the core gameplay still remains and its still a awesome game. My reviews are 100% unbiased and I will never do one unless I am confident enough to do so. I use a scale of 1 - 10 with 5 being a average game. Many professional reviewers use 7 as a average game which I find is more of a trick to convince you the consumer that a game is better then it really is.
