Card Game '99' (How To Play)

04:34
Card Game '99' - (2 to 5 players) How To Play: Three trinkets are chosen by each player. Three cards are dealt to each player, and the player to the left of the dealer goes first. He chooses one of the cards in his hand, places it in the discard pile, calls out its value, and then draws a new card. The player to his left then chooses one of their cards and places it on the discard pile, adds its value to the previous card and calls out the new total. Play proceeds like this until a player can not play without making the total value go over ninety-nine. That player gives up one trinket, and the next hand is dealt. Any player without tokens loses and is out of the game, while the last player remaining with trinket(s) wins. Cards of certain ranks have magical 'Get Some' powers, which are: -Kings: total becomes 99, regardless of what it was before. -10: value is -10. - 9: value is 0 aka pass (order of play remains the same.) - 4: value is 0 and the order of play is reversed. (once the game is down to two players the order is not reversed.) Queens and Jacks are worth 10, while all other cards keep their face-value. ------------------------------------- **Special thanks to my mom** ...for teaching me '99' back in the mid 1970's. How to Play Crazy Eights

01:39
Watch more How to Play Card Games videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/217664-How-to-Play-Crazy-Eights All you need is a deck of cards and a friend to play the fun game of Crazy Eights. Step 1: Deal the cards. For two players, deal seven cards each from a standard deck. Tip If you use more than two players, use two decks and deal five cards instead of seven. Step 2: Place the remaining cards face down to form the stockpile. Turn the top card – known as the upcard – face up to start a discard pile. Tip If the upcard is an eight, mix it back into the stockpile and turn up the next card. Step 3: Start with the player to the dealer's left and match either the rank or suit of the upcard with one of your cards. Place it on top of the discard pile. Step 4: Play an eight at any time if you don't have the correct rank or suit. The person who plays the eight chooses a new suit for the next player to follow. Tip Make the game Crazy Jacks by making jacks – or any other card – wild. Step 5: Draw from the stockpile if you cannot match the upcard. Keep drawing until you have a card you can play or the stockpile runs out. Step 6: Pass play to the next person. Play ends when the last card from someone's hand is played or when no one can match the upcard. Step 7: Score 50 points for eights, 10 points for face cards, and other cards at face value. The person with the lowest score is the winner. Did You Know? Did you know? The French were the first to use the four standard suits for playing cards that we use today – diamonds, hearts, spades, and clubs.

How to Play UNO

01:56
Watch more How to Play Card Games videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/359844-How-to-Play-UNO To play this game, all you need are UNO cards and a friend. Follow these instructions for a fun game for all ages. Step 1: Deal 7 cards per player; create a Draw pile with remaining cards Shuffle the deck and deal seven cards, face down, to each player. Stack the remaining cards face down to form a Draw pile. Step 2: Turn up first card in Draw pile Turn over the first card in the Draw pile to create a Discard pile. Step 3: Have the person to your left match the Discard card Have the person to the dealer's left match some aspect of the Discard pile card -- either the number, color, or symbol. Place this card face up on top of the Discard pile. Tip Play a Wild Card anytime. Tell everyone what color you want the next person to match. Step 4: Draw from the Draw pile if no match is made Draw one card from the top of the Draw pile if no match can be made with the card on the Discard pile. The drawn card can be played if it matches the Discard pile card. Step 5: Pass to next player Pass the play to the next player after a match is made or a card is drawn from the Draw pile. Continue counterclockwise, matching the number, color, or symbol with the Discard pile or drawing from the Draw pile. Step 6: Shout "Uno!" when you have one card left Shout "Uno!" when you only have one card remaining in your hand. Play until one person is out of cards. Tip Penalize anyone who forgets to shout "Uno!" when they have only one card left by having them draw two cards from the Draw pile. Step 7: Add values of cards in opponents' hands for the score Add the values of the cards remaining in everyone else's hands, with number cards counting as face value; Draw Two, Reverse, and Skip cards counting for 20 points; and Wild Cards counting for 50 points. Tip Shorten the game by playing only one hand, with the person running out of cards first being the winner. Step 8: Continue playing until someone reaches 500 points Start a new game, and continue playing until someone reaches 500 points. Did You Know? UNO was created in 1971 by Merle Robbins, a barber in Ohio. He and his family made the first decks of UNO cards on their kitchen table and sold them at his barbershop.

Check out the official app http://apple.co/1HCxrup Watch more How to Play Poker videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/515002-Best-Starting-Hands-Poker-Tutorials Hey, I'm Nicky Numbers, a Professional Poker Player, whose going to talk to you today, about the best starting hands in poker. Now, when most people are talking about poker, they mean No Limit Hold Em. The best starting hands in that game are, big cards, and big pairs. So, hands like Ace, King. Especially Ace, King, suited are incredibly valuable. This is a true, premium hand. Another example would be pocket Queens. Any pocket pair of Tens, or higher, is going to be a premium one. Hands like Ace, Queen, are also incredibly valuable, because they flop top pair regularly. Ace, King, for example, flops top pair, 30 percent of the time. Big pocket pairs have tremendous value because often they're an over pair to the board, and when they're not an over pair to the board, sometimes they flop sets, which are really strong hands. A set is when you have a pocket pair, and then a third card that matches these two, comes on the board, so, you have three of a kind. Now, these are traditionally thought of as the categories of hands that are premium holdings. Pocket Tens are better, Ace, King, Ace, Queen. You only get dealt one of these hands, 4.7 percent of the time. That's about once, every other round, if there's ten people at your table. So, these are infrequent occurrences. If this is all you play, you're going to end up playing way too tight. There are other hands that also play well in No Limit Hold Em, and have tremendous value. And the deeper stacked you get, meaning the more big blinds you have, the better these other hands will play. Hands like pocket Deuces. A pocket pair is going to flop two pair, or better, about 12 percent of the time. It's an incredibly powerful hand, and the most likely hand of any, to flop a monster, pocket pairs. Another valuable hand is suited connectors, cards that are directly connected to each other, and are of the same suit. So, they're sequential, like, Six, Seven. Another example, would be a suited one gapper, like Seven, Five, or, a suited two gapper, like Seven, Four. Cards that have no gaps, and are directly connected, have one gap, or two gaps, and are suited, have tremendous play ability in No Limit Hold Em. For example, a true suited connector, like, Four, Five suited through Jack, Ten suited, is going to hit the flop to make a big hand, or a draw of Eight outs or more, about a quarter of the time. On the surface, it looks like you only have Seven high, but these cards work tremendously well together, and create a synergy that results in the hands having a lot of value in their ability to continue passed the flop. Another example, is a suited Ace, like Ace, Six, or Ace, Deuce. These cards work in a very similar way to suited connectors, suited one gappers, and suited two gappers. Basically, you want to play hands that are able to continue pass the flop, regularly. And when I say continue pass the flop, regularly, I mean continue pass the flop in a comfortable way. Imagine having a hand on the flop, and your opponent makes a bet, and you're comfortable continuing to call, or raise. Imagine being on the flop, and making a bet, and your opponent raises you. And you're able to comfortably continue by calling that raise, or, even re-raising them back. That's what you're looking for when you're picking hands, pre-flop. Hands that interact with the flop in multiple ways, and are often able to continue passed the flop, and regularly go to show down.

Check out the official app http://apple.co/1HCxrup Watch more How to Play Poker videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/514999-Poker-Rules-Poker-Tutorials Hey, I'm Nicky Numbers, Professional Poker Player, and today, I'm going to talk to you about the rules of poker. Hold em is a game where each player starts with two down cards. However, before they even deal, there are two players that are forced to put out bets, known as the blinds. There is typically a small blind, and a big blind, and these are forced bets that players have to put out, before the hand is even dealt. Each hand, the blinds move from player to player, around the table, so that it's fair. After the blinds are posted, which means the blinds have been put up, and actually are out in front of the players, the hand begins. The dealer gives each player two cards, one at a time. So, the cards are dealt, and each player is given two down cards. They then have to choose whether to stay in the hand, or fold. A round of betting then takes place starting immediately after the big blind, which is known as under the gun, because they're forced to act first. Players choose to either stay in the hand by calling the big blind, meaning they put in the same amount of chips, or increasing the size of the wage of this round, often based on their hole cards, by raising. Alternatively, and most commonly, players decide not to participate in the hand, put in no further chips into the pot, and fold their cards. Once all the players have acted, three cards are dealt, known as the flop. These are community cards that any player in the hand can use. After the three community cards, known as the flop, appear, another round of betting takes place, except this time, there's no forced bets, like there are pre-flop, with the blinds. Players have two options, they can check, or they can bet. Checking is when you choose to let the other players act before you, typically indicated by saying, "I check," or tapping the table. If all the players in the hand check, then the next card comes, which nobody put money to see. The next card, is known as the turn. If instead of checking, one of the players had bet, then they would force the other players in the hand to commit more chips in order to continue, otherwise, those players would have to fold, and the player who made the bet would be awarded the pot. Otherwise, if one or more players call the bet, the hand will continue to the turn. The turn is another additional community card, that unlike the flop, comes off as one card, instead of three. However, like the flop, a betting round takes place in the same way. If all the players in the hand check on the turn, or there's a bet, and it's called, the final community card comes, known as the river. The river is another single community card after which a round of betting takes place, just like it did on the flop, and the turn. The only difference is, that after this round of betting, if two or more players are still in the hand, then a showdown occurs, where all the players still in the hand, after the river, show their cards, and the dealer awards the pot to the best five card hand. So, there you go, the down and dirty rules to poker. Like Mike Sexton says, Poker Hall of Famer, and Ambassador for the World Poker Tour, "It takes a minute to learn, and a lifetime to master."

How to Play Go Fish

02:57
Watch more How to Play Card Games videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/274-How-to-Play-Go-Fish The object of this game is to collect the most "books"—or sets—of four of a kind, like four kings, four nines, and so on. How do you collect them? You go fish! Step 1: Sit & pick dealer Sit in a circle, on the floor, or at a table. Pick someone to deal out the cards. Tip Can't decide who's going to be the dealer? Flip a coin or, with the deck face down, have everyone draw a card. Whoever gets the highest card deals. Step 2: Deal cards If there are just 2 people playing, the dealer gives each player 7 cards. If there are more players, everyone gets 5 cards. Tip This game is the most fun with 3 to 6 players. Step 3: Place draw pile When everyone has his or her cards, the dealer places the rest of the deck face down in the middle of the circle where everyone can reach it. This is the draw pile. Step 4: Organize cards As you get your cards, organize them, putting any that are the same rank or number together—but don't let anybody else see what cards you have! Step 5: Ask for card The player on the dealer's left goes first. The goal is to collect as many books as possible. The first player starts by looking at the cards in her hand. She then asks one other player for a specific card—but it must be a card that she already has at least one of. So if the first player has a nine in her hand, she can ask "Got any nines?" Tip It's a good idea to ask for the cards that you have the most of. Step 6: Hand over cards If the player who gets asked has any nines, she has to give all of them to the player who asked for them. That same player then gets to go again, and ask any other player for a card. Step 7: Go fish If the player who gets asked doesn't have any nines, she says, "Go fish!" The first player then takes the top card from the draw pile, adds it to her hand, and her turn is over. Step 8: Next player asks The person sitting to the left of the first player goes next. She asks anyone she likes for a card that she already has one of. If she gets a card, she can ask for another. If she doesn't, she has to go fishing from the draw pile. Tip If someone asks another player for a card that you also have, remember it—when it's your turn, you can ask the asker for it. You know she must have at least one! Step 9: Go around in circle Keep going around the circle this way. When a player gets the fourth card of a book—let's say all 4 nines—she shows them to the rest of the players, takes them out of her hand, and places them in a stack in front of her. Step 10: Game over The game is over when all the books have been collected, or all the cards are divided up into their groups of four. The winner is the person who has "caught" the most books. Did You Know? Look carefully—in every deck of cards, the King of Hearts is the only king who doesn't have a mustache.

Do you know how to play poker? Maybe? Do you know how to play poker in English? I'm going to teach you. I know how to play poker. I am not very good at playing poker; I always seem to get really terrible cards, no fault of my own. Very skilled in the game, just bad luck. Luck of the draw is not with me. I'm going to put my old-school video camera away, and we're going to learn how to play some poker in English. So, the first thing that we need to know about poker is it's a game. Woo-hoo. It's become very, very, very popular online because you can get a lot of money. The way I learned to play poker was my father taught me, after many a grape soda, sitting around the kitchen table, betting matchsticks. So, welcome to my childhood. I learned how to play poker. What did you do? The most important thing is to learn the name of the cards in English. So, probably you know: A, K, Q, J, 10, and the numbers, but these actually have names. The "A" is the Ace. The "K" is the King. The "Q" is the Queen. The Jack is the "J". Then it goes from 10 all the way down to 2. There is no 1. Sometimes the ace can be used as a 1, but that's too complicated, and I'm not going to tell you my tricks. Well, you're going to lose anyway, so might as well. The other thing that we need to know is what to call the cards. So, these are suits. Not... Suit? Suit, suit, suits... Suits, they're called... I don't know why they're called suits, they're just suits. So, the suits means: Hearts, diamonds, clubs, and spades. Now, when I was a child, I had a very stupid brother. Still do. Mm-hmm. And for some reason, he said shovels. Okay? It's a spade, buddy; not a shovel. Get it right. Okay? So, hearts, diamonds, clubs, and spades are the proper names of these. So, now you know the vocabulary of the wor-... Of the cards. I'm going to teach you some verbs that you need. The first one probably you know, is a bluff. "Bluff" means you have a face... Oh, Lady Gaga go away. Mm-hmm. Poker Face. Do you know what that means? "Poker face" means you are expressionless. Usually you have a baseball hat, so people can't see your eyes. But a bluff is when you do not let your face show your cards or what you're doing. So, if you're betting money or matchsticks and you want to bluff, you're going to pretend that you have a fabtabulous hand. Now, "the hand" means what cards you have. So, I'm going to pretend that I have the highest cards ever, called a "royal flush". So I would not make expressions with my face, and I would bet a lot of money. I would be bluffing, because maybe I have really, really bad cards. I always have bad cards. So, "bluff" means to, like, lie and pretend you have really, really good cards. The most important word is "bet". "Bet" means you put in money that you're going to lose or win, depending. Before they even deal the cards-"deal the cards" means you give them to people- there's something called an "ante". An "ante", not your mother's sister, means a forced bet before the deal. So, if we were playing cards or playing poker, and I have lots of money, I would ante $100. I would never do that. And then everyone else that wants to play would have to put in, automatically, $100, even before we look at our cards. Scary. What happens is we have the first bet is called "open". So, it would be my turn, I could open, which means I would put in money; or if I did not want to, I could "check" or "pass". This means I don't want to play with money. I'm just like: "No. Enh, we'll see what happens." If I have a really, really, really terrible hand, which means my cards are not good, I would do what's called "folding" or "fold". I would say: "Fold." Fold means: "This is terrible, I'm out. I end the game. I'm no longer playing this." When you bet, you can "call", which means you match what the other person has bet. For example, if the person before me bet $10, I would call, and I also would put in $10. If I wanted to get more money from people, I would "raise the pot", which means I would put in my $10, and I would add more money. So, if I had a really good hand, I would say: "I call the 10, and I raise you 50." So the other people playing, if they wanted to stay in the game, would have to put in $50.

Best of all, the game is a social experience for kids and adults alike, where players use math and strategy all the while stimulating their imagination and creativity. This video will teach someone who has never played the game before how to play in less than 15 minutes. Luckily, the game is very straightforward. Using a 60 card deck, draw 7 cards, choose an active Pokemon, use energy cards to power up and enable various attacks on that Pokemon, all the while placing and evolving additional Pokemon on your bench and using trainer cards for support effects. Pokemon was created by Wizards of the Coast, the same company behind Magic: The Gathering. I feel the two games are very closely related, and would describe the Pokemon TCG as “MTG-Lite.” Imagine Magic The Gathering without instant, and without a second main phase, and this is very much what Pokemon TCG is like. But unlike a game such as Magic The Gathering, learning Pokemon is easy to do, and the rules can pretty much entirely be covered in fifteen minutes.
