Yall entertainers love promoting and recycling the same garbage ass music to produce cake for the industry and stifle artist... mfs need to search up new talent and put on for new lyricist whether or not neguhs numbers high. That being said tho vibe out to some fresh sounds this HipHop/Rap Game need...#BrooklynFor3v3r - https://ffm.to/bk43v3r

Diddy is partly responsible for Rap being diluted he is the one who ushered in the whole Bling Bling Rolex Shiny Suit era that watered it down

I agree with star's beginning statement 100%

everybody sound the same. there's nobidy like: 6ix9ine kodak post drake chance dicky cardi kendrick migos xxx The rest of these niggas is copy&paste
Bruce Berry (1 month ago)
This has to be the dumbest conversation I’ve ever heard from Complex employees !!
Skeletor (1 month ago)
Its funny because hip hop is the most diverse its ever been. Yeah there's a lot of guys that sound the same, but there's also a lot of totally different artist. Rap only had a few different sounds 20 years ago. Rap only seems diluted because its the biggest its ever been. Rap is the new rock.
Someone replace AK with that lightskined guy he sounds like he got knowledge. AK be talking that bullshit and be sounding like everyone else DUMB.
R Nandez530 (1 month ago)
It really is too much music though. Im downloading albums and dont get a chance to listen to them because the next one is already out. Gucci mane, for example, is really getting annoying. That nigga is releasing 3 to 4 albums a year and most songs sound the same. Same with the migos. So much music is being released that I dont even know what music is on my phone at this point. A lot of these rappers need to take a break. If rappers keep over saturating the industry with the same sound, their music and themselves are all just gonna come and go.
Diddy is 100% accurate Y'all need to stop pushing the bullshit. There is nothing new under the sun, I'm tired of hearing this new generation BS.
Craymon Ham (1 month ago)
Akademiks is so far gone mentally you can tell. Jamaicans will do whatever a white man says so he's comprimised "to a degree" . Ak has become corney as fuck & is playing a hand in the destruction of hip hop.
Craymon Ham (1 month ago)
Just say it.....the south music is pure ass juice. None of them can rap & its sad to watch a southern artists interview. All a southern rapper says is ".....bruh........lit.......suck.....my.......dick.......bitch......ho ho ho ho..........turn up turn up........" shits sad & Atlanta needs to just stop pushing out these horrible horrible artists.

i mean i agree and disagree im 25 and to say that at least todays hip hop is not very far from the pure essence of hip hop is crazy the meaning is fading. people still love music yes and people will continue to love hip hop as star said out with the old in with the new but it is different
Tim Tom (1 month ago)
I'm with Wayno on this and no the cream is not rising to the top that's the problem. Snoop was different from Biggie, from Tupac, from Busta Rhymes, from Too Short, from Mos Def from Lil Kim, etc all at the same time. That's why hip hop was nice cause everybody came out as themselves instead of copying everybody else. if rappers just came out as themselves hip hop today would be much nicer.

i agree with diddy and way no
Francis Solomon (1 month ago)
Diddy is more worried about his son being able to make it instead of the rap game being diluted, lmao.

AK is partially right, there r gems in the new class of rappers but the mainstream isn’t very diverse, Joe Budden should be there to butt heads with AK
Not alive (1 month ago)
I don't completely hate mumble rappers cus I understand there always had to be a balance.. There always was until nowadays when they started penny pinching and pushing only melodic Hip-Hop cus of the massive profit. Real lyricists left in the dust with no mainstream behind them anymore.

Ryan Smith (1 month ago)
Hip hop right now has a lot of Grade B, C, and D rappers. The only Grade A rapper out right now is KLamar. Then you have Drake, Jayz, and Kanye...but they are old. Theres nothing special about the new rappers. Other than their fashion.

Stfu Diddy, you are the primary reason rap sounds so awful. And, this argument is 10 years past due. Hip Hop culture does not exist anymore. Don't nobody give a shit about making great music, they want the shoe deal, the movie deal and the endorsements.
A Dried Mango (1 month ago)
I was just gonna say before aka said it, everybody is basically rappers, think of actual bands, and artists like most metal bands, it takes assembly, an talent for people to come together. A drumer, guitarist, singer, talents brought together to form a certain sound and form. Now adays if you dye your hair a gay colour and shout about drugs, killing and, women, then youre an artist and deserve fame? The fuq

I think ak has it really misconstrued with his bold claim "hiphop's the most diverse these days". U can count the lyricist on one hand, but there's literally an ocean of 808-rappers.. So if certain lyricists sell more, don't the 808-rappers tooootally outsell/outstream them IN SUM, does'nt 808-music being overwhelmingly the most consumed thes days?! If so, diddy would be right, but i'm still gone bump these 808s day'n'night. 😉

Complex promotes what diddy is complaining about..so whenever someone comes out talking like this complex always hates on the person...the problem with what's out now is that its manufactured..
Sir Babajide (1 month ago)
Hip hop is trash and dudes like ak will lie and say its diverse. No it isn't. The only lyricist we even hear about is Kendrick and j Cole.
this show has lose all hip hop credibility since Joe Budden's left. Dude in the red hood was talk facts everybody sounds the same dance and all are gimmick and troll rappers.

The media sold these kids dreams, it’s a harsh reality but not everybody is going to make it. What make someone different from the other 1.5 million kids rapping? It’s too big of a risk and the only thing that people are telling these kids is follow your dreams. Then you got kids trying to rap like migos and drake and shit. I’m getting tired of my Facebook feed being full of 22+ year old SoundCloud rappers that think 100 views is a lot thinking they need to drop a project like they official. Rap is a fucking joke and a mockery there’s no meaning or purpose to it anymore.

And another thing, people need to just support who they like and don't support who they don't like. The reason why people who are not that good, in certain people's opinion, is because they are supported by the people who like them; whether, that be screaming, buying their music, buying their merch giving them views and followers and anything they ask of them. That's how they become and continue to be successful. So, if you want more people that you feel the deserve those "spots" to be successful, support them anyway you can and learn how to adapt to the new age way of supporting artists and stop trying to be stuck in your old ways of supporting artists.

There’s more competition now #Facts it’s still a business tho. The niggas that eating are still eating cause of investing not skill or image. Let’s be real. #Hiphop
Demigod Elzz (1 month ago)
Poptropica Witch you have those ppl you’re talking about, then there’s the Jcole Kendrick category , then there’s the Fab kiss Wayne Cam lane/era then there’s the 90s ppl , then there’s the Drakes and the Drake sound alikes , then the females. It’s mad categories. Punchline/ metaphor , simile word play category , battle rappers . Gangster west coast rap , old school east coast rap. It’s new ppl still doing all of these different styles.

"The cream rises to the top." EXACTLY!! Not everybody will do it right. The realset and best will always last longer and have more prominent careers. So, basically, the copies are irrelevant. Stop talking about them. Allow them to disappear and actually work on their craft.
Lil Durk (1 month ago)
I agree with Diddy. These new artists are trash. Sorry
D. (1 month ago)
I hate, the whole everyone looks and sounds the same argument. For one, EVERY era of hip hop had a distinct look depending the time the music was made. From high-top fades, jerri curls, to what we have now with the colored dreads. It really comes down to wanting to look cool for the consumers/audience and wanting to look to the part for upcoming artists. And I totally agree with the notion that hip hop has always been formula. What works, brings money, so people, who, are not that creative at a certain time in their career, are going to keep using it.

Tone Hunts Great music. I love the song the melody, and the golden rule is a nice chill song. While listening to your voice, I kept picturing Talib Kweli. Your subject matter and flow is like Talib Kweli, not a bad thing. One of my favorite emcees. The production is also filthy. A great EP and intro to your music.
